This was the PS3 title I was anticipating most. After playing the demo the action seemed slower than GOW and a lot slower than Ninja Gaiden.
Not sure if I am going to buy it anymore. I guess Uncharted has moved to the top of my PS3 list
I was planning to pick up the HD-DVD version, but to my suprise it was sold out. Plenty of BR copies though. Same thing happened a couple of months ago when I picked up the Departed. Wondering if the retailors are carrying more copies of the BR version, in anticipation of better sales than the HD-DVD version.
I played Black and loved it. I decided to pick this one up, as the game is great and I wanted the upgraded visuals, and I hadn't fired up my PS3 to play a game in moths. I am actually enjoying it as much as ever. The combat system which has always been the best part of the game is still unmatched by any game including GOW/DMC series. In fact playing it on my PS3 is even more enjoyable than playing Black simply because I don't have to worry about where to go or what to do next. I get to e...
According to gamerankings.com Ninja Gaiden Black averaged better review scores than GOW or DMC

Either way all are good games, but Ninja Gaiden was my fav from last gen. I am picking this up for my PS3 since my xbox disc got scratched and I am looking for any reason to start using my PS3 for something other than watching movies.
C/C++ is also an abstraction layer.
Also programming to interfaces and not implementation is a pretty strong recommendation from any CS prof. Encapsulation and reusiability are foundations of oop. But from the sounds of it you must write everything from scratch in assembly.
Shoot even programmers who write Drivers use some sort of Driver model
"And now they're getting beaten up clearly by the 360"
- Yes they are getting beaten up by the 360 now. If they would have waited they could have avoided it.
- Also all the port graphics comparisons that favor the 360 wouldn't have happened. Gamers would be playing games like Uncharted, Lair, HS, etc... at launch and wouldn't focus as much on the graphical differences of ubisoft/EA ports
"And what you'd think, many developers would have bring the ...
You list some valid points about the 360, however the pros for releasing the 360 earlier than later outweigh the cons.
However for the PS3 I don't think the pros outweigh the cons.
I have seen a lot of posts in all the latest "save the ps3 articles" that state it should be obvious to all that PS3's aren't moving because of lack of games and price.
You yourself are even stating that it is normal to wait. A common statement from Sony f...
Since everyone has been saying that no games/high price equals low sales, it seems obvious they should have waited.
Hindsight is 20/20 but consider the pros of an October launch
- Worldwide launch with ample supply
- Cost of production is getting lower so they could possibly have launched with a lower price
- They would have lost less than the 2 billion they lost this year
- Have the best launch line up ever. HS, Uncharted, Lair, RFOM, Motorstorm, GT...
More lines of code, means more bugs, means longer dev times.
Also more lines of code means bigger working set which can impact perf.
Also devs prefer ease of use over power/performance(Not saying that ps3 is more powerful than 360 or vice versa)
Think about all the various abstraction layers that make things easier, but with each layer there is a reduction in perf.

I saw this on a vgchartz forum and thought it was kind of funny.
Example A: Sony Fanboy comeback: Lacking any concrete evidence to refute the gravity of the presented claim, the Sony Fanboy falls back on evasive counter attacks adressing silly and often times irrelevant matters. Most prevalent is attacking the original poster's character and integrity rather than adressing the issues presented in the topic.
Example B: Sony Fanboy Defense Mechanism 8.1: When con...
I mean we keep repeating the same things over and over(price, lack of games)as if it should have been obvious to all.
If so why didn't Sony just release this holiday season? They could have saved themselves a years worth of bad news, and launched with some killer apps.
Is that someone actually disagreed with your post. How can anyone disagree with what someone says they "Want"?
As far as cold feet. As long as they don't cancel the games that are releasing this fall and next year you will get your money's worth. Regardless of how many possible future games get cancelled or if Sony finishes 3rd this time.
The guys on the 1upyours show were saying that this game has been majorly over hyped by Sony over the last 2 years. It got me thinking if this game wasn't hyped so much would 360 owners be as interested in playing? Would the 360 owners who have no interest in playing consider it a trophy or another bragging point if the game was ported?
I mean I liked the first game, but the crazy ending in the second game totally got me out of this series. Only after the 4th game was being ...
Being a little dramatic eh?
If Konami feels they can make a lot of money porting over to the 360 what is the problem?
Granted Kojima is an artist and I am certain he feels art is more important than money, but at the same time getting a little more cash for doing something you love isn't a bad thing. Is it?
The sales for PS3 have been too slow and they have yet to make any ground on the 360. They sold something like 16K in NA last week. Everyone ...
My 720 Samsung has 3 hdmi ports. I watch my hd-dvd vids through the 360 add on running through hdmi.
I haven't watched bluray movies yet on the 720p TV. As I mentioned earlier I can only game on the PS3 on my 720 TV. Anytime the PS3 tries to output a 1080P signal my 720 TV can't display it. I googled away around it, but it's not really a big enough deal for me to change the config every time I hook up the PS3 to either of my TV's
In fact this is prolly the most excited about any game on any console coming out this year that I am most excited about.
Hopefully the gameplay is half as good as what the graphics look like. If it is I am sure it will be a winner. I believe this game is something like 4 years in the making so I am pretty sure they nailed the gamplay and story as well.
Not sure what you mean. My 360 upscales my games to 1080P on my 46 inch 1080P box, however even when output to 720P on my 40inch they look pretty equal. I only own RFOM and Motorstorm on my PS3, and those games look identical on my 46inch and 40inch TV's. But they both output in 720P on both TV's.
Honestly both TV's look pretty much the same when gaming, except for the occasional ghosting on the 40inch TV. As I said earlier I think this is due more to a slower refresh rate...
I have a 46 inch 1080P Sharp Aquos and 40 inch 720P Samsung.
I can't really tell a difference when gaming, however when watching either hd-dvd or bluray movies I do see a difference in picture quality.
Both are great TV's and I am happy with both. I got my Aquos about 6 months before my Samsung and it cost almost twice as much.
As I mentioned earlier graphics wise it's hard to tell a difference when gaming between my 720P and 1080P, except I have noticed...
My year old premium has the Samsung drive. Only problem so far is that sometimes it takes a couple of hits on the eject button to get it to eject.
The other problem is that I get a disk read error on the end of level 10 of Ninja Gaiden Black. It's after you have beaten the level and trying to load the next level. Unfortunately I can't save so I have to replay the last part of level 10 over and over. Could be the disk though since this the only game I have a problem with. I...
The 360 version has more than one replay. I think it has like 5 or 6 big plays listed out, however you have to select the one you want to watch. If you don't select one, than the game will keep replaying the top one on the list. So I guess that is how your friends may have gotten confused
