Well, people didn't die from the 3DS XL's jagged mess.. It's probably not that bad.
400 x 240 uniquely rendered pixels (x2 = one for each eye).
Only low tier ports and expensive indies.
No price reduction not even memory cards.
No Uncharted "tier" game (photorealistic, great set pieces, shooter) for PS4.. or GOW "tier".
A 200 dollar VITA would seem sound (specially with tamed MMC msrps).
It's still a console and even the Nexus 4 that has a weaker GPU sells at $ 300.
Even if you upgrade the specs, it won't completely replace your Android/iOS devices due to the sheer amount of apps.
Because you can pocket it, take it anywhere and costs -33% of a home console game?

The younger gen are practically weened with touch screen devices, depends on the game too.
It sounds tin-y near max levels and it doesn't even get that loud.
Not that it directly relates but even PJD series on my PSP 3000 sounds better in speakers than PJD f VITA on speakers.
VITA's last chance = X Event (E3, TGS, GC) til end cycle.

While it's a fact that there's demand for portable "core games" like RE:R, MH, UCGA, CODBOD, AC3L, etc., yes, Sony has to find "THAT" -more casual portable software for the VITA.

There's gonna be a few sales spikes here and there but at this rate, probably nothing "ground breaking " *cough* exclusive high budget GTA/FF/KH/ES game *cough*.
