A compilation like this probably shouldn't even be scored. The games pretty much just get marked down due to the fact that they're no longer new, so it makes no sense to score them.

What's with the perfect score? Obviously the writer had a few issues with the game. He'd be better off not using a score than the "WTF" ambiguity he portrayed here.
I REALLY hope people don't buy it. I thought the Wii Pokemon "RPG's" were bad. I'd almost settle for that. But that's the problem with us and why we don't get what we want. We settle. I love Pokemon. But if this game is crap, don't buy it! (Preaching to myself too...)
I also hope that Nintendo releases their next console within the next few years as well. It seems Suda, Square Enix, and probably more as time goes on will be moving on from producing games that aren't in HD. It would be a shame for Nintendo to lose this great 3rd party IP.

There's absolutely no comparison. In the second you spend 2/3 of the game wishing that you could be the characters you really like and care about, and the whole game wondering if there's ever been a more frustratingly linear R.P.G.
But I'm just not interested in this game. It's Smash bros with too few characters, and not as good looking. If they had dished out whatever money it took to team up with Jump and had TMNT vs. Naruto characters or something like that, then this thing would have sold through the roof. Smash Bros may be mostly limited to Nintendo characters, but it's a well rounded bunch from all across the Nintendo spectrum, and a good many to choose from. This game can't compare, and times are too tough for me...
I would have put Metroid other M for sure and The Grinder, but to each his own. I don't think we'll be seeing Zelda next year either. To be perfectly honest, if an HD Wii is announced at E3 either next year or in 2011, we may not see it until the next console is released. Just like last time... :(
When a casual or non-gamer goes to buy a Wii, especially in this economy, and the store employee informs them that the PS3 is only $50 more expensive and has a bluray player, or the Xbox 360 is $50 cheaper and can play HD games and stream HD movies, they are going to at least think about it.

From a direct game development standpoint, no they haven't ignored the core audience, though they have at times failed to fully satisfy.
From a business model standpoint yes they have seen to it that the core gamer is greatly ignored in that dozens of great 3rd party games will never be available to Wii only gamers since the hardware is so weak in a relative sense.

1. NMH2 is probably just as similar to the original as those games you mentioned are to their past incarnations.
2. All I personally want out of God of War 3 is similar but enhanced game play, better graphics, and a great end to the mythology. Looks like that's exactly what we're going to get.

The Wii version of WaW has no split screen and no zombie mode, yet it still sold over 1 million. Perspective much? :p
The DS game should be amazing. Far better than the PS2 controls, and even the Wii. Why shouldn't they do this? The game more or less bombed on the PS2, and did slightly better on Wii. There are 100 million DS's out there and the game will be alot cheaper to develop. Smart.
With SMW2: Yoshi's Island they went with a baby form of Bowser, which afterward prompted them to create Bowser Jr. the next time they wanted a youngster bad guy. Now that he's around we may never see the Koopalings again... Would be cool though.
