While I do believe that the PS3 has the ability to create better graphics that the 360, it's still all about gameplay. You can make a turd as pretty as you want, but in the end it's still a turd.
I think it would be interesting to have a game about a natural disaster(s), like maybe if a gamma ray burst from an exploding star knocked out the entire Earth's electrical grid and you were forced to survive in the aftermath. Finding refuge, weapons, maybe become a beacon of hope and recruiting survivers to create a new world. Having to scrouge for food, grow your own food, find weapons and defend yourself from escaped convicts and other nastier people who want to destroy what you've made. A...
I personally think the PS3 version of Fallout 3 is slightly inferior to the 360. Textures aren't as crisp up close and A LOT of aliasing in the background... however we know who to blame for that. Other games, such as MGS4, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and even Heavenly Sword show that a little extra time and effort are all that's needed to fully exploit the power of a certain hardware platform. This goes the same for EVERY platform, however Sony is notorious for making systems that do require a l...
I like playing a great looking game as much as the next person, but I also love playing a FUN game too. I still play Super Mario 3, Super Metroid, Crono Trigger/FF3 PS bundle because they are FUN and immersive games. I don't care if Microsoft or Sony shows target renders as long as the final product delivers. A game that looks as good as Killzone 2 isn't a good game unless people have fun playing it and there we run into the age old argument of graphics aren't everything... which I agree with...
LMAO I was thinking the exact same thing. I will ponder on the thought of naming my next son that.
I think the point is, there were problems they ( Microsoft ), knew about and hence could have easily solved the problems before the consoles launch... and they did nothing. Which means, they screwed you and me ( the consumers ) with a faulty console. Not just for this one problem though, no, also the RROD issues. You have to admit the fail rate is simply unexceptable. If you can't then you're a XBOX fanboy through and through.
I try and play each of my consoles equally when it ...
My XBOX 360 scratched games on three occasions. The first happened when I was adjusting the console like many other people do... unfortunately it was running and scratched it. The second instance was when my cat jumped up next to it and basically, put a paw on the portion directly over where the disc spins... and it scratched the disc. The third was during a sudden wind storm which knocked it over, but that was just a freak accident. Thus far however, my PS3 has scratched not one BRD... in fa...
of Level 5 possibly making a game, possibly games solely for the PS3. If we look at games like Uncharted, MGS4, Resistance 2 ( 1 even ), and probably the best example... Killzone 2, you'll see a trend of highly polished, visually stunning, and just plain AAA titles. This is the same way with Bungie and Halo 3 and of course Gears of War 2 for XBOX 360.
So it would seem the game developers are seeing Sony as a way to use their artistic talent to make games that they really want to ...
and yes EA, we're looking at you. :)
"You can't simply count polygons, memory, or megahertz, since each system uses its resources differently, and much of the efficiency comes from the way that programmers utilize these resources."
Each console has it's advantages, but it's ultimately up to the developers which console grows and becomes the strongest in terms of graphics and gameplay.
The more I play PS2, the more pi$$ed I get that the PS3 won't have force feedback. While not INTEGRAL to my gaming experience it does add that little extra something. :(
The game looks significantly better that the XB360... in stills, in motion it looks the same if not just incrementally better.
Screen shot wise, you can definitely see that the sweat, lighting and textures on the boxers have been revamped pretty drastically. You can see the pores in their skin!! Will I spend $50 for it though? No, not unless Sony online is comparable to XBL nd right now no one knows either if it is or isn't.
That's what I'm hoping as well. Sony has been really good with picking up small companies/developers and giving them all the funding and backing they need. We can only hope, right?
I'd bet money that Sony will pick them up soon as a first party developer. :)
I'm happy that both versions will be comparable to each other. This does put a lot of fanboys in a pickle as Ubisoft has been a staunch XBOX360 supporter as of late. Now that they're basically stating both machines are pretty much equal, well, just makes a lot of certain people look stupid all of a sudden. I like. :)
@ Daytona: To my knowledge, we still don't know the final specs on the PS3's RSX GPU, so don't compare them please. And please don't post comparison's from p...

I liked the PSP interface because it was simple, easy to use and stylish. The only change I hope to see as far it gracing the PS3 is more options to customize it.
Overall I like it. Not spectacular, but definitely far from bad.
The RSX GPU has 256MB of XDR RAM running at the CPU's clock speed, aka 3.2GHz. That would probably make your PC explode. No, it's not because of the lack of RAM. The 256MB of XDR RAM is VASTLY superior to 512MB of DDR3 RAM which most high end computers run off of.
Devs sure seem to be taking advantage of that dedicated eDRAM on the XBOX360 don't they?
Why are developers of multi-platform ports skimming on almost every single PS3 game? I think the anwser is that because it's so easy to develope for the 360 that since the PS3 takes a little more polish to get the most out of it that they really just don't want to put the extra effort and funds into it. It makes sense, but fanboys blow it WAY out of proportion. A gamer doesn't give a fart in the wind as to which game has slightly less jaggy edges on the shadows... a fanboy does. A gamer enjoy...
