why make this article, regardless of how you feel about the wii u
Right I'm not saying that you have to have one or the other when saying new ips and old games, but just shedding some light as to why Nintendo doesn't do it that often for reasons that I think are completely valid. Especially in a business sense. I would gladly play new games that are not the usual franchises, I am just saying from a personal standpoint that I would be just as satisfied if Nintendo used the same franchises while adding fun new ways to play those games. As long as the...
Yeah completely agree with this article. If you aren't gonna put the features on then don't make the game.
I agree with you that there shouldn't be this vs. debate all the time, but the impression I get from your post is that it is impossible to like both nintendo and sony franchises which is very much not true. I may have misunderstood your comment so if so my bad. Either way I do demand more from Nintendo because they definitely can do better in a number of areas, but not necessarily in the form of new ip's. I just want more good games. I would rather have a really well done sequel than ...
"They don't try to make games that appeal to other users outside their fanbase."
You mean they should make the same games as Sony to appeal to YOU. I know plenty of gamers (including myself) who play sony games and still love Nintendo games. Sony and Nintendo are only mutually exclusive because you make them that way.
Nintendo is making an important step in that direction by merging their departments. Clearly the handheld department is doing something very right, so by fusing the console and handheld departments they can learn to focus on both. I have a feeling whatever they release next generation will be either the most connected console/handheld combo ever, or even better a system that can truly serve the needs of a home and handheld console all in one(though to be honest I don't know what that woul...
I love it. I agree with everyone that there could be more games, but I'm using this opportunity to get through my backlog on 360, ps3, and also using the wii mode to catch up on some lesser known wii titles that have turned out to be really underrated. I will be fine cuz I always have more games to play.
@bitbydeath
clearly you havent played luigi's mansion 2 yet
@Logicwins
In the sense of third party nintendo has been secondary for me, but my favorite games have always come from nintendo consoles each gen. Just another opinion
You act like it is impossible to play both. I know I sure will be.
Well Nintendo did say they have a Wii U 3rd party direct still to come so it may be true, but also just as likely is that Nintendo considers Ubisoft to be "plenty of third party support".
This guy does make it seem like some unexpected titles are coming too. Don't get me wrong I hope they do get these games ready by the holiday and I am excited to play them all, but the games that we have only dreamed of are still only a wish at this point. By this I mean games like a open world hd pokemon with good online battles and trading (which despite what some people think would move consoles like nobody's business).
and if they are representative of most other games coming out nowadays they will, but I think it is clear that their strategy is to hammer in some big first party titles near the launches of the other consoles. I think it will work well for them, though I have no clue how well they will do in comparison to the ps4 and 720. But if they do manage to get these titles out by then (especially with that being the best time for a price cut) they will be in a very good position
If nintendo cuts the price this fall, releases probably 2 first party titles (any two will do but most likely 3D mario and mario kart), gets that monolith soft title out, possible 3rd party suprises (Nintendo still hasn't done their 3rd party direct they promised) and on top of that Sony and Microsoft don't do a tremendously better job stocking their systems than last time, then the Wii U will outsell.
to be honest we don't need any of these dumb articles. Substance in gaming journalism is a thing of the past. Wait nvm
I can play both so not a problem for me, but the only title that sees nearly as much playing time as monster hunter is bioshock because the other two were beat in no time, which I just finished. Now back to Monster Hunter and some luigi's mansion dark moon on the side. You try to poke and prod but gamers stay busy regardless of what console helps accomplish that.
Notice you didn't say anything about what he had to say. Just trying to start something
I think from all the comments I have seen you are the most logical person on n4g. I wish they were having a showcase to. The only reason I can assume they wouldn't is that the games just aren't ready to be shown yet. Though even just a little piece and some better marketing could do wonders for them.
Don't care if there are sequels as long as they are still good. Everyone complains about them not releasing tons of new IP's when in reality Nintendo's current ones have such a rooted brand that any new IP Nintendo releases will be hilariously outgunned by the new 3d mario, Zelda, Smash Bros, etc. no matter how good it actually is. I'm not saying that you shouldn't consider these issues if they are important to you and what you buy, but I'm just saying if I enjoy the s...
How is it ruined? You don't have to catch it, and I'm willing to bet that if you turn on your gameboy and play it then mewtwo will still be there.
Bubs up for always just giving your opinion in an unbiased manner, but I hope that you have tried all of the games more making a very generalized statement like that. Otherwise it would be like saying your not into Italian food when you have never tasted all that it can offer.
