Yeah so... You'll be able to buy a HDD later then?

Retailers across the globe are gonna be somewhat upset at all the leftover old HDDs left on the shelves. Maybe the cheaper old model 360s will cause a run on them.

I was actually really turned off to the game by this presentation. Its not Metal Gear anymore, in my book. Its some sorta Ninja Gaiden game with a Metal Gear theme now.

I like Ninja Gaiden (and Metal Gear Solid) alot... but this looked.. wrong. Its neither NG or MGS, and its kinda failed to inspire me to want to buy it.

Wow. I'm kinda surprised its not a lot smaller, since the brick is still external. I wonder what size the chips inside are? Same 65nm, but in better arrangement for heat, with better vents?

The Wi-Fi isn't about gamers -- its about casuals, and the new 360 Kinect demographic.

It's also one less bullet point for the PS3 over the 360, which is a good move for MS, even if they are still lacking a few bullets.

Nope. Notice the Activision deal -- It lasts until 2012.

No new XBox until 2013, IMO. Activision wouldn't be stupid enough (well.. I would hope not) to sign away exclusivity during a "next gen opener" year.

I would buy one... if I didn't already own a 360.

I don't think MS is trying to sell these machines to previous 360 owners, so I doubt they care.

Honestly, I'm worried about the cooling design of the new unit. I have some faith in my 65nm Jasper 360. If the chips are 45nm in this new slim unit, then.. well then I'll be just a little jealous of people who get one... assuming the cooling design is good.

It kinda seems like its...

I find this guys comments pretty entertaining. I almost wish he had more than one bubble.

I think they said "more than a dozen". I would wager the rest are not Kinect-exclusives, but rather are titles with additional control options if you own a Kinect.

I think if you rattled off all the 1st/2nd party MS games you can think of, you'd probably have the remaining titles. Lets see if I can remember them... Halo: Reach, Gears 3, Fable 3, Crackdown 2, Kameo 2, ..umm.. maybe a Lips 2, a Banjo Kazooie game, and some sorta Forza refit or something? I bet...

I am actually interested in the Kinectimals game for my kids... but I'm not going to pay a fortune for it (i.e. Kinect + game). If its the only decent game, I think I'll have to pass.

Pretty ignorant commentary by this "analyst", if you ask me. Sounds like he doesn't understand his markets very well. The 3DS doesn't really need to wow anyone to succeed. And the PSP2 is just a rumor. Heck, it's only half a rumor (we've heard about the GPU, but not really anything believable about the CPU or anything else). Not sure how it can be "yawn"ed away without any serious info.

I'll bet Custer yawned when he heard there we...

In this case, I think Yakuza is more or less bound to the PS3 by nature of its custom PS3 engine. It would probably cost Sega millions to redo the game for the 360 -- way too risky for the amount of Western sales the Yakuza series typically sees.

Yakuza sells a lot better in Japan than it does in the West. Yakuza 3 actually did quite a bit better in the West than 1 & 2 did (they were PS2 games), however, which is probably why Y4 is coming for sure now as well.

In any case, Y3, Kenzan (a Yakuza offshoot, which I wish would come to US shores!) and Y4 were all PS3 exclusives in Japan, because the 360 doesn't really warrant attention in Japan. I would wager that, if Sega knew Y3 was going to sell well in the US,...

One of the BEST games on PSN.

Day one purchase for me.

I think Sony has come to realize that, no matter how cool the E3 conference is, people only take "one" cool thing away from it. You can't stuff it full of coolness, and expect people to remember it all.

Sony will only announce one (maybe two) cool things at E3. The rest of it is all momentum. At this point, I'd say that strategy is working quite well.

Honestly the difficulty of the boss encounters, not adjusting for solo play, is kinda off-putting.

Still, a 6/10 is abysmally low for what is otherwise a great game. I found DMC3 to be too hard to truly be fun, but that didn't stop it from being a great game for many. 6/10 is basically saying "even if you're a better gamer than I, this game is meh", and I think in this situation, that's probably *not* the case.

Call of Juarez 1 & 2 are both pretty fun games.

Japanese dev houses are small, Japanese publishers are small. Japanese game budgets are small.

So yeah... they can't "keep up". They do pretty damn good with what they have to work with, though. Cliffy might want to take into consideration that Unreal is made with Western devs in mind, as well -- heck, even languages like C/C++ are easiest for native english speakers to understand, by nature. In a sense, western engineers are trained from birth to understand...

About half of those players are rental players, or used sales, likely.

The game has only sold about 800K new, I think. Actually that really says something about how much used sales take away from a game's revenue, I think.

Developing games for the PS3 is easy, unless you want to use the SPUs, because your game is doing something requiring serious horsepower.

I don't think this game requires the SPUs to do what it does. From a high-level perspective, the PS3 is a single-core 360, or a Wii HD, if you're not using the SPUs. Honestly, a lot of XBL/PSN devs don't even use more than a single core on the 360 anyway, so the PS3 and 360 are nearly the same, from many perspectives.
