I kinda regret getting my 360. I bought it because of the JRPG lineup I thought would be exclusive, and now many aren't.

I do enjoy me some Banjo Kazooie, however. Otherwise, the 360 kinda fills a "what if <game I want> is only on 360?" role in my home, and.. that pretty much never happens, since I have a good gaming PC, with wireless kb+mouse, hooked up to the big screen.

I've played some forgettable kinda-exclusives on it (Infinite...

Sony had a standing policy of adding "at least 30% more content" for any game ported from the PS2 to the PSP.

You can bet they will enforce the same kind of thing with the Move. If you're getting away with a simple port, it needs to be worthy of a repurchase, for Sony to consider it.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that was *exactly* the reason so many 360 JRPGs show up on the PS3 a year late and with a load more content -- works out w...

I don't see them saying "primarily hardcore" anywhere there.

I think hardcore is at least an option, whereas it wasn't really, on the Wii -- mostly due to demographics, IMO.

Hallmark, I find your posts really entertaining. You should maybe have named yourself "Bizzaro Moment" or something, though, it would be more fitting.

I have it on good authority that AW did about 300K WW in the first week. Not stellar, but not as awful as this article makes it sound.

It'll probably pull 700K lifetime (many of those sales will be discounted, however), which should cover its development and marketing costs, more or less... Remedy is a small studio, which kind of cancels out the long development timespan.

Its nothing phenominal, but I didn't really expect it to do that well. They sh...

My one, and only, gripe with MAG is that not enough people play it, and instead waste their time playing other junk, which is what other online FPS games are, compared to MAG.

Cheers to it getting better all the time.

The business folks shoved the 360 out the door before the GPU was ready. It wasn't ready for primetime, and the business folks said "ship it, we need to beat Sony out the door".

It had nothing to do with the ambitious hardware design -- no one tells the tech guys that their deadline is going to be cut back by a year until it happens.

That would definately trump just about anything I can think of.

Throw in a Last Guardian release date, and a Ico/SotC HD remake, and... well.

Imagine sending an IM, with a picture of you giving the bird to your friend, because Natal recognizes the bird, AND picks the name out of the "&^%$ you Bob!" which emerges from your vocal chords shortly thereafter. (*)

Natal is the future. Everyone wants it. This study proves it.

The more income the games companies get, the better the games get, and the greater variety we, as gamers, get to choose from.

Games companies are choking left and right these days. Even if pirates are not the major cause, additional income will keep console gaming strong into the next gen. Yes I want more games with frickin huge budgets, because they're amazing experiences.

I understand that games are "expensive" to some people who prefer to w...

You should take a look at GameStop and EA's financial reports before you make a statement like that one, bud.

You and GameStop are the ones making out on used game sales, not EA. Their ship is on fire, and your used games purchases are the matches.

If you buy used, or borrow the game, EA doesn't get your cash, so you're not their consumer at all.

Why again should they care about you? You didn't do anything for them, in that case.

If you're not buying the game new, you're not paying a single cent to the creator of that work, or its publisher.

If you buy it used, or renting the software, you know what you're getting, plain and simple. It's your option not to buy it.

Why should publishers give a crap about used game sales or rentals, unless it leads to a DLC purchase or a new purchase? They shouldn't -- you're screwing them over by padding the retailers pockets,...

I would *much* prefer to play heroic looking, action-over-words Conan types, as opposed to skinny teenager, gender confused, can't get their heads around the ideas of courage and honor, types.

Every Japanese game hero is like the main character in Infinite Undiscovery these days, although sometimes "darker", but certainly not more manly. Ye olde Japanese game heroes were courageous and awesome, even if they were teenagers.

No idea what change...

I don't believe it for a second, actually, since Sony owns more 1st party studios than MS and Nintendo combined.

I'm calling BS on this article.

Perhaps he should have suggested that Sony revamp the current PSP to include features like a touchscreen for the XMB (not for games), which would greatly enhance its appeal to users who enjoy the multimedia capabilities of the device.

Calling that a "PSP 2" is just wrong, however -- it would play PSP games. And sure, they could probably price such a device at $199.99, but it still wouldn't be a "PSP 2"

They've have to call it a &q...

PSP2 couldn't come out for *years* at that price, if Sony was going to up the tech inside as well.

This guy needs a technical advisor, or something, to tell him when he's said something outrageously out of bounds. He's nuts.

Does he even realize that the DSi is way, way cheaper to make than the PSP, and almost costs that much at retail?

I have to agree with most of the posts here. Nintendo only failed the hardcore gamer, and even then, hardcore gamers are usually prone to buying multiple consoles anyway. Get your classic Ninty franchises on the Wii, and everything else on a HD console -- works fine for most serious gamers.

Nintendo is doing what they do best, and doing it well -- making money, by catering to people who don't know wth N4G is. Can't blame them for it.

Games cost a truckload to make, and publishers struggle to profit by selling them.

The amount of effort people put in to make a game demands the price for it. You'll have to settle for games not much better than the typical Wii game, if you want it cheap. No one is going to sweat for years to make something you like, and then keel over dead and penniless, happy that you liked it.

Namco makes a lot of RPGs -- these just aren't going to sell more units, at retail, for less $$.

They'll switch to a DLC model, where you buy a retail disc with a weak ending, and then have to download the rest of the game, after paying more, for a significant part of the story. Or they'll switch to an episodic model, similar to .Hack, except probably cheaper, per episode than .Hack was.

In the end, it'll cost you more.
