Be reasonable. Comparing it to Mario? An almost 30 year icon? Next to Mario Kart's 31 million sales, EVERYTHING failed. Halo, GT, Metroid, Zelda, Metal Gear etc.
How come Gears3 selling 5 million is quote worthy, but when MGS4, GT5, UC2, LBP all tickled the 5 mark, they never got the same praise?

Sales on PS3 and 360 are just under a million each, which is less than Resistance 3, and look at all the flak that game got.
It's a funny double standard in the media. If a multiplat sells a million on a console, Gamespot calls it "a big hit", but if an exclusive sells a million, out comes the "what went wrong".
