Warhawk = full game, many years old with many tweaks added over the years -wrench, jetpack, health sprays, APCs, Dropships, new modes-, more maps, more game modes, more options.
Starhawk = BETA, couple months old, most options locked out cuz its a BETA, couple vehicles still locked out, only 2 map skins, no large size maps yet, no Zones yet, no levelling up perks, player caps. It's...a....B-E-T-A.

Resistance 3 looks better than Resistance 2. This was easy to see. Better lighting, particles and effects like the wind, dust, rain. Even the water looks better in part 3 than the oily physics part 2 had.
Beyond that, Starhawk graphics look better than Warhawk too. You -really- need to play those games again. I don't play the Ratchet games, but inFamous 2 looked better than inFamous 1 as well imo

They will never, ever let you just install the full game from DVD disc onto your HDD and then be able to play directly from your HDD without the disc. Piracy issues. That's why they don't do it now, even with a 2 disc 13GB ME2 install and 6 GB ME1 install on your 360. Even with DS:Extraction fully installed on your PS3 from off the DS2 disc. You still have to put the disc in as a sort of unlock key. So in that sense disc storage still very much matters.

Your analogies are terrible. Laserdisc was never used for games. Bluray's primary gig as hi-def storage media for movies etc has already become mainstream as hi-def TVs slowly rose to prominence. Faster adoption rate than DVD. Look it up. Both bluray players and hi-def TVs are now affordable which laserdisc never became. Players now go for under a hundred dollars if you look around.

Bad example though by Msxbox. Not enough of a difference between the 1st game doing 2 million and every other sequel doing over a million to prove a decline. GTA has consistently been the top selling game on any platform its been on. It was doing 15 mil' when COD was still in WW2. Halo hasn't sold 10 mil since 2007 when there was no competition. Wars and Anniversary are just over/under 2 mil.
