There are a few on this list that offer in app purchases, while there are others that are simply buy and you are done. All of them are worth playing though and as far as I can tell, none are "pay to win" with the IAP.
Piko have more coming. I just can't reveal them right now.
You are welcome. Piko are bringing more licensed titles to Steam and even SNES/Genesis/GBA soon so keep your eyes on RGM. We will be covering each one as they are announced.
@Gamer7804, yes there are onscreen controls but you can pair a blue tooth controller and use that instead so your fingers are not blocking important areas of the screen.
I just noticed that it doesn't specifically say NES either. Nor does it show a NES cartridge in the pic- you would think it would support NES though, that is a big omission if it doesn't.
You can pair a blue tooth controller and use that instead of the included touch controls.
This is the full Tomb Raider II game, plus the Gold expansion from PC. It is not watered down or re-arranged.
It is definitely one of those games that sticks with you even after you stop playing. Usually not in a good way either.
That was an easy one to put on the list as it is the only one that legitimately set the mood of a good creepy horror movie.
They have since regrouped, lost John Carlsen who has received a lot of criticism from Mike for the price hike situation and are supposedly regrouping with "the original team" but the people that were apparently the "original" team are making it quite public that they are not involved with this regrouping of the company.
I am well over 100 hours into following and writing about this console and will continue to do so as long as the fans support the content ...
Several companies and developers were mentioned early on (in my first article). I contacted the companies they mentioned (Sega, Namco, Konami, etc) and only Konami said they even had talked with the RETRO VGS team but they re-iterated many times that there was no game deal and no interest from them to produce new games for this vaporware console- though they did alert the Japanese headquarters that there was a new planned console requesting direction. Obviously, we know now that Konami will...
Initially the console was to be $100 to $150 but it did not have an FPGA, just an ARM CPU (think OUYA but games on cartridge and no Internet connection). The idea apparently was to force developers to put out a game that was complete the first time rather than relying on patches later.
The whole "retro emulation" came later, and inflated the price quite a bit.
I have been following this from the get go and even did an 1 and 20 minute interview with the three people behind this thing. I also transcribed that audio interview for my website (over 14,000 words which took me about 20 hours to copy over- lots of technical stuff and arguing between the members). It is also available on Youtube.

It is still fun but, yeah, the IAP is annoying. It doesn't get in the way of playing but you will eventually hit a wall that holds you up for a bit, or you can pay for stuff to help make it easier.
As a rule, for reviews I don't purchase any IAP. I base them completely on what enjoyment I get from the game as is.
There are a couple of 3DO emulators for PC that work really well. This is the first for Android that I know of though.
You have to supply the games yourself. This comes with no games.
You will have to convince a lot of people to chip in to make this system happen. The link to their IndieGoGo campaign is at the end of the interview.
This is an extremely early version that does lack music and even battles or a story. All of that should be fixed/included prior to it going to final release though. I will be interviewing the dev soon and following this one as it continues.
We cover new Genesis games from time to time, two more new games were linked in that article. A Commando style action game and a new take on Columns/Tetris. There are more. We focus on what hits with our readers so if you want more of this stuff, share, comment, like whatever you have to do to get our attention. You will get more of it.
I am not sure if you can do it with a Game Genie or not. This hack adds other little niceties to the game too.
