Vr to me was similar to a roller-coaster ride, cool but I wouldn't want to drive around like that everyday.
An anology, if I want a full gaming experience like farcry, gta, drakes I need a car to enjoy the seat, gps, and car interior. If I want a 200mph thrill ride on Saturday night then vr is there too.

Might I suggest you turn down a few settings? There is a thought that bc one paid so much for pc components that gives us a ticket to run max settings.
However, tune down to get locked 60fps and understand devs make games that are over matched by current cards. Also there are optimizations that you mention but you don't have control of that, but you do have control of aa, shader, etc.

Where the other things don't pull you back, vr can be good enough to crave more. But it's not good enough for a full time replacement of drakes, farcry, etc.
