nintendo lives in there own bubble. it's what got them into trouble way back in the nes days and still gets them into trouble today. they make hardware for there software with no outside influence from 3rd party or in many cases from consumers. they have also had poor relationships with these 3rd party dating back to the nes and controlling how many games they are allowed to release in a year.

how many people here can actually view each systems line-up on the sole merit of the games and not the name on the box of the system?

physical is better because,
1) value in reselling
2) easier to trade and lend
3) can always play on hardware
4) no need for backwards compatibility
5) easier to find used
6) offers more competition at retailers and the used market

my how things can change in a heartbeat. earlier this year many said m$ doesn't care about games or gamers. now here we sit with the xbone potentially (i say potentially because it is all opinion and acquired taste) having a stronger line-up of games.

the point is sony does pay for exclusives and timed exclusivity and there is nothing wrong with that. we will also continue to see sony (and the others) make deals with content with publishers like ea. it's all part of business.
what sony often does is make it so they own the ip. that way if the game is a hit they can either get the same studio back and make it exclusive or get someone else to make it exclusive. m$ should buy the rights to the titanfall ip. i know not eve...
