one of the drawbacks is you cannot have games loaded and ready to go unless they are digital. not having to deal with discs would be great. just access the hard drive and away you go.
that's a different argument your now making. i agree, it doesn't need to be online but we don't know why it will be yet. it could be to tie ea servers into the game to allow them to do instant updates on the fly. it could be to monitor your stats, trophies/achievements automatically. or it could be just another tool to get data from us. whatever the reason its there decision.

game developers will be paying close attention to holiday sales. if the lower price makes a big difference expect a lot more games coming. the more hardware sold means game developers are more likely to support it.

putting video up for free is one thing but why should people get paid by using intellectual property you don't own? even commercials on tv are not allowed to use someones song without there consent or paying them.

as a consumer from the outside all we see is m$ is releasing in x amount of countries and sony is releasing in y (or should it be s?) countries. from a consumers point of view they wonder why one is having to explain themselves.
so even if it were manufacturing issues m$ is likely not to confirm it. they could indeed have working systems but they may not be producing them as fast as sony.
at the end of the day ask yourself if it matters to you. are you wantin...
consumers like physical medium because there is a greater sense of ownership. what digital can offer is better convenience. an example would be at a friends house and accessing any game at anytime (without having to remember or carry your games with you). not having to drive to the retailer to get a game and knowing it will be available at launch with no worries of being sold out. auto-updates are another plus.

not sure where you are getting that perception from. sony has always delivered the goods when it comes to games. what we've seen on the ps3 was a slow burn. not a very compelling launch of games and it didn't really start hitting it's stride until mgs4.

two things stand out. parenting and access. this game is not rated for 8 year old kids and parents need to do a better job at parenting. even if he's staying with grandma. the other issue of course was access. why is a gun available to a 8 year old?
the boy should not be charged but should be in psychiatric care. the parents should be held in custody until they can prove they are fit parents.
1) a launch line-up never really determines the fate of the system. they are usually bought solely by the hardcore crowd. many could be loyal fans but very few will buy either a ps4 or xbone based on its current line-ups alone.
2) exclusives do matter to a degree. they define a system. why many sony fans are arguing about the line-up on the xbone is m$ has a history of slowly pulling back on game support during the later years. so they see the ps4 as a long term investment. t...
