That list was lame. Wet? She has huge tattoos and the game could stink. How about DOA, Soul Calibur, and Rumble Roses?
This is a tough console war. The cheaper it is, the better.
Every website is doing these "retrospectives". Do we really need them?
Quote from article: "In fact, physics seem to be a big focus this time around. Shoot a can of compressed gas and the leaking fumes will propel the can down a hallway, for example."
Halo 2 single-player had canisters which did the same thing. Deus Ex: IW also had many types of canisters that spewed gas which propelled them realistically. The gas was poisonous, so you had to be careful or you might get trapped by it.
I would say the same thing about any game. The demo is just a taste, it isn't the entire meal. It is irresponsible for anybody to claim that it is a "must buy" after playing a demo.
I agree about the multiple SKUs. And I also don't like the Microsoft Points since I don't earn MS Points at work. I earn dollars and cents.
His other points are off target. 2 of them are actually the same point (better hardware). You can thank Nintendo and Sony for expensive 1st party peripherals. Both of them did not include a memory card until this generation.
Gamespot, EGM, and IGN all made comments that Bioshock would "eventually" make it to PS3. They all "suspected" it would come. This actually make me a bit mad, since journalists are supposed to speak with knowledge. Eventhough Bioshock was always exclusive to 360/PC, they kept assuming otherwise. I thought they had insider information, but they obviously didn't.
Then the 360 must be equal to 16 clustered PCs since Madden 2008 runs at 60 FPS vs the PS3's 30 FPS.
By the way, the demo which is in the article was on a PC. That's what I meant by high-end PC.
The PS3 can do 1.8 TFlops vs the Xbox 360's 1 TFlop, on paper. Yet, 360 games always look better. I don't believe paper calculations, just games. Let's see this in a game.
"Reality" is something that can be played, not a demo on a high-end PC.
MMOs are looking better, but they really need to improve the polish and graphics. I understand that MMOs require lower specs since there are 100s of users playing, but I've tried a few of them and they seem boring. You can do many things, like fly, swim, etc. But it never feels realistic.
Aion from NCsoft looks amazing, however.
Perhaps Sony should have waited a year or two before launching the PS3. That would have given them a stronger foundation for the PS2 and time to make the PS3 the best it can be. Instead, Sony let Microsoft dictate the console cycle. You have to give MS credit, though. They put out an amazing machine in a short time.
Bioshock is a deep FPS. I've played 33% of the game so far, and it deserves the good sales. The game is richly detailed and polished with amazing AI, weapons, and powers (plasmids). It appeals to both RPG and FPS fans.
You can't judge a game by playing it for 15 minutes!!! The main complaint by people that played the whole game is the Sixaxis controls which become painful over time.
Backwards compatibility is not important. I think the only reason Microsoft did it was to get Halo 2 players to buy a 360. (Halo 2 was the number 1 online game on Live until Gears of War. It is still in the top 5.)
I assume that Sony is making money on the Play TV deal. If Sony is spending money on it, Sony should ditch the project and put that money into games.
VG Chartz makes a guess based on past data, and it is simply wrong. NPD tracks real inventory and compiles real data. Even the expert analysts can't "predict" last months sales. (As evidenced by everyone thinking the PS3 would beat the 360 in July).
GR is trying to make a name for itself, so they make news where there isn't any. They make up "Top Ten" lists and put the most popular game on top to increase hits. They cover anything with nude girls. But they never seem to have real news.
It looks like shenanigans. Besides, the latest official statement is that there will be no patch.
Why would you assume it to be a 9.7? You haven't played the game. Besides, 9.5 is just as good.
