Bungie did alway say that this story arc was going to be a trilogy - while there will be other games set in the halo universe, they will not feature the Master Chief.
But wether he dies or not is purely speculation at this point.

I will definately pick this game up for the PS3 - a copy of hardboiled HD too, that is just too good to be missed.
This is looking fantastic - kudos to Bungie for really giving us a treat.
The beta was pretty good, but the single player is looking great too.
