but that's the million dollar question - in europe, the xbox was viable for about 2 years, then the 360 arrived - 90% of my back catalogue had to go as it wasn't supported, even though MS made a huge song and dance that it would.

I agree the the planning is in the works for all consoles, but my question still stands - we have barely scrathced the surface of what the 360 can do - do we really need to wait to the devs get to grips with the coding again?
I have no probs with a 5 year cycle - it has been that way for years, but to release another console in a couple of years when finally the 360/ xbox brand is finally getting noticed by the community at large is scandalous in my book.

These questions will sway my decision to buy the next one if it is released after 4 years. If they screw the gamers again, then i think they may have shot themselves in the foot - the 360 is a great console, I hope it has more time left in it than another 2 years...

What is most likely to happen will be the divison of their repective departments, then they will be sold off - hell, I was sure MTV was looking to buy the 1UP/gamevideos divison a while ago.
