Whether you like it or not, you cannot say the game is not "good" when its still part of the conversation for almost 16 years. Its like Zelda: Ocarina of Time and such titles, its a vintage product.
You must realize that you kind of contradicted yourself when you said, you have both PS+ and Live and then following it up with:
"I got the trial they gave me after the hack.. Didn't even bother using it"
If you did not bother using it when it was free, how do we know your using it now, when your suppose to be paying for it?
Sony made a mistake with their strategy by focusing on making the Vita western centric. They forgot that the PSP was successful because it was the bastion of niche games, especially JRPGs and for some reason they keep supporting the PSP in Japan and not giving incentives to 3rd party developers to put the games exclusively on the Vita.
They also need to help localize the Japanese games with an English speaking market. I mean Tales of Hearts and Innocence maybe ports but those...
It helps them sleep at night.

I think they are making a Gravity Rush sequel. Toyoma (the director) did Tweet he will do his best on the sequel.
It has games, it doesn't mean if the games doesn't appeal to you that automatically the console or handheld doesn't have games.
That is just creating FUD.
Edit: I agree on what you said above though about the lack of heavy hitters.
This is what made the PSP popular, it was the bastion of niche games, mostly JRPGs. Sony should have continued with this strategy on the Vita instead of making it western centric.
Now if Sony can help bring over the JRPGs with big names over then it could very well help the Vita in the long run.

NIS only has a history of porting Disgaea games to the handhelds. They did it with Disgaea 1 & 2 from the PS2 to the PSP before. They do not do exclusives, unless you count the Prinny games. lol!

In essence your out to look for the super Curry ingredient to save your Curry shop from a Walmart type establishment. Kind of like Atelier (Arland series) saving your Atelier from going down. lol!

Tales of Heart and Innocence, along with Tempest came out on the DS before getting ported to the Vita and for some reason Bamco still did not localized them. When the DS is the most popular handheld of all time.

Yeah, I think the titles were a poor choice made by CNN.
I got an 80gb PS3 bundled with MGS4. The only hiccup it ever got was an issue with ejecting the discs from the slot-load reader. Once I got that part replaced. It was all good again.
We keep forgetting that Microsoft is only targeting the casual crowds on certain countries because those TV features will only work depending on the services per region.
It is not a universal strategy that we all would like it to be.
The Wii kind of beat both the PS3 and the 360. It seems a lot of gamers are forgetting that.

No, keep Cross Buy. It should be implemented on some games like PSOne classics (maybe PS2 classics in the future), Indie games and whatever 1st party games Sony wants to use it with.
The Vita will have its own exclusive games and whatever games that are only PS4 can be used with Remote Play and then we will have Gakai in the future. Its a strategy that gives lots of options to the consumer.
