...that Jackass Thompson gets a case of Ebola virus, and dies a slow and painful death. :o
...that was my own opinion. ???
And no, I really didn't "miss out" on anything......I said there were only a few PS2 exclusive games we ENJOYED, not PLAYED. See, not everyone likes MGS, FF, Kingdom Hearts, and GoW. ;) Ico was great, but then Team Ico decided to go with the incredibly dull and repetitive SotC, rather than a sequel to Ico.
if it weren't such a niche genre. It will be a technological showpiece, with a lot of eye candy, but it likely will rent more than it will sell.
It's actually one of the few PS3 exclusives (for now, anyway ;) ), that I'm actually interested in. In 3-4 years, when the PS3 is worth buying, I'll pick one up, along with this...unless it's been ported to the PC/360 by then. My wife and I loved the PS2 exclusive, Drakan: The Ancient's Gates...one of the few PS2 games we enjoyed.
Lost Planet used UE3.....this is hardly "news". :o
....they can't mandate any exclusive material for the games ; those rights are held by Activision. Sony likely paid a lot of $$ for this "exclusive" content, just like MS did with the XBOX version of S-M1 (the PS2 version had NO extra content).
...I'm going with stupidity. :o
...the 360 will likely get the same thing....if not more....just made available later, via LIVE. ;)
Week old news is pointless. :o
"Microsoft's approach I think is far too built around a single game IP, one IP, and they could learn the benefits of a killer catalog rather than a killer application. And having the broad software support in multiple genres, in multiple categories, in multiple age groups is what really propels a platform for the long-term. So I think those are the differences that we see between the platforms. "
As of today....about 8 months away from the release of MS's "one IP...
Perhaps you never saw the flood, because you were under your rock. :o
...and it never was the "primary" one anyway, since this was NEVER an exclusive.
...Pandemic foolishly thought Sony would cough up the $$ they wanted for an exclusive deal. Obviously that never happened, so EA had the green light to make the announcement.
Most games, unless first-party, are developed with multiplatform in mind...it's just smart business. Unless a sizable amount of cash is paid to offset what they project they could sell on other platforms, most developers have no choice, if they want to make a profit.
...I actually had to sit down for a minute, because the shock was too much. This was almost as shocking as Rosie O'Donnell announcing she was a lesbian. :o
I never bother with MP, until I've finished the SP campaign anyway ; I'm sure they'll have this resolved long before then.
By about a week, dude. :o
Pirates of the Caribbean, Rogue Warrior, and their 2 new Star Trek games aren't RPGs. ???
Halo 2 was a HUGE disappointment to me....liked Halo MUCH better. The online that everyone STILL raves about in Halo 2 was fun AT ALL, unless you enjoyed big clan battles.....which I hate. For casual, 1-on-1 or 2-4 player deathmatches, Halo 2 sucked ; COD2, Gears, R6V, and Lost Planet are all superior in that department.
Besides, "fun" is completely subjective ; I much prefer something fresh like Crackdown, to another FPS, which will just be an upgrade over it's ...
Crackdown will likely be more fun than Halo 3 ; I've already played the demo longer than I ever played Halo 2. :o
There's waaaay too much gaming goodness to enjoy over the next few months, to be worried about an online-only beta test for a late 2007 game.
I always liked "Wears many hats....but none of them fit well". :p
