What if you mess up your 399 PS3 while trying to upgrade it? So will Sony still warranty the PS3 or did you void your warranty by upgrading your hard-drive. Since you can upgrade the hard-drive, then there is no point in getting the 60gig PS3 because all you get is wireless right?
Honestly with I don’t know if I would be willing to open up the PS3 IF the warranty would be at stake. The PS3 already seems fragile in design considering how complex the BLU-Ray drive is and a Hard-...
If you want to talk about inovative. Most games aren't most games follow other games that sold well before it. Look at how many doom and quake style games there are. The one thing GOW has done is they have taken the time to dot all the i's and cross all the t's. There are so many games that could be great but they fall short for little things that cause the game not to be good. GOW out of all the games comming out was the most talked about E3 and other events. Before I saw it and played it I ...
I think you have beat DJ for the crown.
Nintendo is only still around not because of it's sells in Japan with the gamecube. It's because the DS has sold more then any console in history. Next Japan is the 3 largest market, not only that they are becomming less of a factor as other markets grow. MGS4 Lead Developer talks about this a whole lot. Microsoft only really has to win North America and Europe. What the guy is saying makes since, the harder it is to develop for a console the more money you spend. The PS3 also is so highly pr...
This is the reason the PS2 sells well and continues to sell well.
1.) It has a library of over 5000 game titles and more continue to come out.
2.) The price is cheaper than the 360, Wii and PS3. It’s at a price level where most consumers can buy it.
3.) You can get used games for 3 to 5 bucks.
PS2’s biggest success was due to the amount of games it had, price and brand name. The PS2 has a library of over 5000 games, where the next closest which is the ...
Out of all the people that post I think yours always stand out the most DJ because it seems like you are not so informed on what you're talking about. There are other problems, that will true most people off from using Linux on PS3. Say you get everything up and running the majority of the pre compiled software currently are designed to support your x86 processors. (Intel, AMD) Not only that almost none of the software other than what Yellow Dog has provided is designed to take advantage of t...
It's just an Operating System. Like Windows, MAC OS. It gives you the nice interface you see and allows all the applications you see to run on top of it.

zpher, this isn't a slam on 360, people. I would say this is more of how does The Mart put it: "Sony over promising and under delivering again." Yes, you can get it via download and install if you know what you are doing. I will tell you now the average person will not be able to get it to work in a capacity they would like. I would have hoped Sony would have pre-installed for the average person but they didn’t. As for it not running on Linux as an OS, there was nev...
In windows current build it will not run windows at all. Microsoft would have to make a custom build of windows that would support the cell processor inside the PS3 (Notice the standard version of windows and the 64bit version). Same goes with any other OS that would like to run on the PS3.
If i recall openGL out of date big time... There are a lot of features openGL doesn't support.
VirtualGamer, I totally disagree with you when you are saying if someone has not purchased a 360, should they discount a PS3 because of its weak launch line up. My reason for disagreeing is very simple. In the current moment and time they cannot deliver, in 6 months the PS3 could have good titles out but it’s not at their launch. Why should a gamer wait? Why don’t they just look at the PS3 for the facts, it has a weak launch list, buy a 360, Wii, or continue to play PS2 because it still has s...
I'm sorry but with 500 to 600 dollars the last thing I want is a piece of paper say I owe U. With all Sony's problems right now, and them not being straight foward about production delays of the PS3 in the first place. I wouldn't go for it. However there will be suckers out there willing to fall for it.
The only way PS3 could run directX 10 is if they change the operating system they are running. DirectX is for windows not Linux. The PS3 is going to rely on the cell chip for anything the Nvida video card can’t handle. With this in mind I’m sure the PS3 has its own special API library, but then again it my not and programmers my have to go about development like the dark days before OpenGL and DirectX. Which would mean longer development time for game development and it would also make it ha...
I love RTS and the best way to play them is with a keyboard and a mouse. You don’t get the same feel and quickness as you do with a mouse. I know MS made Lord of the Rings RTS for 360 but it’s not the same. I will agree that for FPS it’s more of a matter of preference, look at how many people love playing HALO.
At the current time even if Sony wanted to stop Microsoft from acquiring MGS4, they couldn’t. To do so would take funding and currently Sony is deep in the red. Playing who’s pocket is deeper isn’t a wise move for Sony. Expect MS to try and get it. At most it will be a time exclusive.
Even if Sony did ship that many PS3, by March I don’t think they will meet that goal. The 1st Quarter normally isn’t one of the stronger quarters for retail sales. Plus it’s a high price tag item. Then again 2nd Quarter is income tax return time, so they could meet that goal by that time.
I think the Wii numbers are a bit low. I do see the Wii selling a whole lot more but there are a few factors that need to be considered. Software titles… They have to come out with a lot more then what the cube offered or even the original xbox. This will give them the ability to capture a much broader demographic of gamers and a larger market share.
Whatapata you’re wrong on the 512mb for each processor. It’s 512k for each cell processor and yes they can use each but even so it’s no where near 512mb for each processor, and that’s only L2 cache not system memory.
Zypher it comes down to Common Sense but it doesn’t seem that common among many people. Most of us that have an Xbox 360 wouldn’t recommend the core to anyone, and if you ask most of us they will tell you the Core was a bad idea from Microsoft. The only reason it was a bad idea is because it doesn’t have a hard drive in it. As for a wireless and a wired control, both have there benefits I will tell you I have both because sometimes I just forget to charge the control. Not only that if you are...
Can you find us the source that says this doesn't void your warranty, because we all would like to see it before we crack open our PS3. Or are you just making it up cause no where in that article did I see that.
