Were these drawn from a PC which cost $399-499 in 2006, have 512MB of RAM and a 2005-era graphics card?
Here are 2 options
360 (defective, pricy add-ons) + online 4 years = $500
OR
Take your home PC (dual core, 2 GB RAM, low end graphics card), throw out the old card for a $150 mid-range card, save $10 per game as PC games are cheaper = $100 roughly
CoD: short single-player + no dedicated servers + camping/glitches
MAG: No single player + dedicated servers + less camping / glitches
Seems fair to me - though must confess I was hoping this would be $40
Have some respect - didnt you know Halo invented the FPS?
This game is loooking good. Coop is interesting, dont think have seen it before in RTS
I am almost sure they have removed the DRM this time
Dont worry, Halo Reach will show the way when it comes to "creativity" and "innovation" just like Halo 3 and Halo ODST. I am so jealous that you are going to play Reach and we are stuck with Uncharted 2, GT5, Heavy Rain and GoW3
Edited: no MAG review in the original article
But anyone wants to bet not more than 6?
At least part of this would be because of graphics and because its "generic" and doesnt offer anything innovative.
How much did they score Halo 3 and Left4Dead2?
I know a lot of the comments on bias against PS3 is hysterical fanboy nonsense, but in case of edge its so open it just cannot be denied. Someone had done an excellent statistical analysis on this as well
When it asks "How Long Can It Go On" the article misses out one key point: its not how much it has lost in the past but how much it can make in the future that is important. Sony can sell the console for 5-7 more years, its future proof (wifi, hard-disc in every console, blu-ray) and its a great deal at 299, which means no more price cuts while the cost keeps going down
And for every console it sells at a $50 loss, on average over the next few years they would sell 10 games a ...
Uncharted 2 is the iceberg
Strange why the PS3 version is getting so much hate for load times and some screen tearing, doesnt make the game unplayable I am sure. Not my cup of tea, but anyone into DMC should try this out, even if they own a PS3. I remember how much hate PS3 Orange box got, but I hardly ever noticed any major problems when I played the game. Even games like Mass Effect had horrible load times, but dont think anyone gave it a miss just for that reason
Gearbox is a great developer. Didnt they make the Brothers in Arms series? Another excellent franchise that doesnt go the typical shooter route, loved the flanking tactics on that game. Borderlands is probably more conventional shooter, but the way they have integrated RPG and loot gathering into the shooter mechanics makes it interesting.
Well, after 5 year of development I am sure the game will be nitpicked on every small detail, and criticised even if it offers twice the content, 1080p resolution, a ton of gameplay features, the best lighting and physics...
Hold on, this isnt Gran Turismo 5? Should be ok with a average game with weak graphics then, still enough for a 10 from EDGE and Eurogamer
Edited to add: I still think its more likely to be a great game than an average one, though the graphics may not ...
Sometimes we gamers do have a glass of wine while playing, but sophistication can also extend to choosing games which involve more tactics and teamplay, and well developed characters, rather than going for pray and spray / twitch shooters such as halo/CoD. Which is why MGS (and soon Uncharted 2) will have sales of 5mn + while Bioshock and Mass effect barely sold 2mn on 360 despite a bigger install base.
It can also mean not trying to cheat or swearing all the time. Its becoming q...
Just bring it out. No more delays please, mid-2010 at the latest.
Well, some wii owners have been playing Mario kart for longer, so whats your point?
Well, I play Uncharted and ratchet is the disc in my PS3 right now!
In fact, anyone who enjoys these 2 games or something like Mass Effect will surely love Heavy Rain
But there is a particular category of people who would look down upon any game that does not involve shooting in a mindless, cliched shooter storyline, and wil abslutely despise this game.
Great review, makes completely clear why you should buy this game
"Heavy Rain isn't about grinding XP or hoovering up collectibles. It's about getting sucked into this genuinely intriguing noirish story, and the thrill of knowing your actions and decisions are making that story jag in different directions."
"times when it's slow ...which may annoy the kind of gamer who's perpetually in a rush."
Definitely not for Halo / coD fans then.
God of War is the same as Halo -the same excellent gameplay repeated over and over again. The difference is that GoW has great graphics and an epic story, while Halo fails hard on both
Ah, Edge being Edge. "Definitive", eh? From the same site that awarded 6s and 7s for lack of "innovation" to Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and ratchet 2, suddenly a game can be "definitive" by essentially, simply going back to the same game mechanics as a 8-year old game
Reading the article, their main "innovation" will be larger maps and more players. Funny, that didnt seem to save KZ2 (massive maps and 32-p online, twice as many as most shoot...
