Gravity Rush launched in Japan before all other regions for both PS4 & PS Vita by almost two months.

It's also referred to as a "Regional Lockout". Some are for periods of time, others are permanent.

Naughty Dog didn't get acquired by Sony until 2001. Prior they were employed by Universal Studios. Universal Studios owned the Crash Bandicoot series along with Naughty Dog. Sony merely agreed to publish.

Universal Studios merged with Vivendi transferring ownership of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon to them. Vivendi later merged with Activision which gave Activision the rights to Crash Bandicoot.

The PSOne era and Sony being the home of Crash ended in 1999. Activision now owns the property. Further Sony nor Naughty Dog are playing any sort of role in the trilogy.

Universal Studios was the home of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. Universal Studios merged with Vivendi. Vivendi merged with Activision.

Nintendo and Xbox fans have experienced Crash Bandicoot on numerous occasions. Nintendo even has handheld versions exclusive to them.

The Best Buy you're referring to was Canadian based. This is a Hungarian based store.

As evidenced by Crash Bandicoot titles existing as PSOne classics on PSN then only being available in certain regions it wouldn't be a far stretch to imagine they sign different deals/contracts due to legality in particular.

You are aware that many that worked for Naughty Dog in 1996-1999 are not there anymore correct? Sony didn't even acquire Naughty Dog until 2001.

So the representation of Naughty Dog then would not be the same as now.

He is also featured in the Skylanders TV show. That's neither here nor there.

Unless you mean Crash Bandicoot was hyped as Sony exclusive for Skylanders Imaginators then unlocked for all platforms a year later then yes, same scenario as here. Also the first platform exclusive character for Skylanders to do as much. Bowser and Donkey Kong plus the exclusive ride did not.

Should've been easy to see. Activision never stated anything about exclusivity...

The PSP & Xperia devices also support PSOne classic titles like Crash. Vaio also if I remember correctly.

Vita can in certain regions. PS3 can both digital and physical. There's really already a thousand and two ways to play the original titles.

Shame that individuals downplay backwards compatibility which can be free as they're "old" yet talk about future content for another platform consisting of many remakes with a new title price yet the same "old" base game

Sony never owned Crash Bandicoot from the start. They merely agreed to publish the titles. Universal Studios had ownership. Naughty Dog did do the titles but were not bought by Sony until 2001, five years after the initial Crash Bandicoot game and two years after they had finished their part in the Crash Bandicoot series with Crash Team Racing.

Universal Studios merged with Vivendi with Vivendi taking ownership. Vivendi later merged with Activision which gave Activision own...

"Yes, Project CARS 2 will run 4K / 60 natively on Xbox One X. [...] We are not ready to define the exact resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro yet."

It's part of the topic at hand.

Except for each time you quote this it also contains context about their experience with Microsoft as well who didn't stop them from releasing on more than a Microsoft platform.

"I was not surprised because with Deadlight we did the same. It was an Xbox exclusive, but then Xbox allowed us to release it on Steam and PC. So we wanted something similar. But that was not possible inside the framework of Sony. I mean, that's how it works."

So...

Killing it by offering content at no extra cost along with giving owners more content to use on the system they own?

I'd definitely agree as the competition doesn't. Either of them.

God forbid Microsoft listens to owners and fans, giving them what they want. While one entity states repeatedly they're looking out for themselves, not the player. A stark contrast to the "For the players" slogan they choose to use.

@shinoff2183: Since Sony has produced four HOME CONSOLES one falling behind represents 25%.

If you want to include other devices Sony has saw similar results with it'd represent more than half of Sony products doing exactly that.

Vaio, Xperia, PSP Go, PS Vita, & Cybershot all did the same.

Which statistically can be used to show a trend in many Sony products and the way it does business.

And it's cool I could buy one for $50 but then I'd have to buy the games that I never owned thus no existing library. Or if it pops up on backwards compatibility and I'm interested I can borrow a physical copy from that same family that does, assuming it works similarly to 360 compatibility.

I never owned one as I had a PS2 and chose to grow its library plus I could check it out with relatives anyway. I also didn't care much for the Duke controller. Just was...

@segamaniaco: They're both exactly the same at the end of the day.

The only reason Sony is saying no to both is because both use their own servers. Sony would not only give up control of the games but the revenue they make in charging the same developers for using PSN based servers.

It's Sony who's worried about losing a piece of the pie plain and simple. Yet they're going to anyway as now both of those titles will receive updates later on...

A lot of PS2 Classics namely on PS3 don't have achievements. GTA San Andreas didn't until they rereleased it later and upped the price. Trophies were also introduced with PS3 firmware 2.40 in 2008, not at launch resulting in early PS3 titles not including support.
