Stop making it so complicated---the Wii made money tapping into a market that they monopolize, Sony and Microsoft are obligated to try and get some of that market. Period.
If Wii successfully launched games that included odors and smells, Sony and Microsoft would copy that too.
Let's not glorify this in either direction.

Both Microsoft and Sony are trying to bite off the Wii market, and that's IT.
Nintendo has made money on something Microsoft and Sony don't have, and they must naturally respond or die. It's that simple. It may indeed just be a fad but Microsoft and Sony must do something just to be sure.

...Killzone 2 came out when Uncharted 2 did, and vice versa? I love both games, and am awed by both. But I think Uncharted 2 benefited from being a newer game while KZ2 was old news by the time people were picking the GOTY.

Halo and GTA, two of the biggest franchises in the history of videogames? Not many reviewers would risk giving these games a bad review.
But what is the motivation behind giving Bayonetta a good score? It's a brand new franchise, Japanese even, and for American reviewers to give it so much props...
Heck, I don't like it either. Demo didn't impress me but again, it was only a demo and perhaps there's a lot more to the game.

Hahahaha Rikitatsu..., Bayonetta goes with Dante's Inferno as opening bands for the main event, GOW3. I've played the demo of all three games and only wanted to finish GOW3's because the excitement and pure gratification of that game in terms of combat, difficulty, background, etc...unmatched.

You are very right, Sidar. Microsoft has to say this. They will have a new console or continue to lose market-share. Sony's PS3 is starting to be what they've been meant to be.
But this leads to another problem for Microsoft---when to release the "720"? Do it too early and it will come out right into the PS3's stride.
Wait too long, however, and the same problem will occur, with only an already out-dated system as a weapon.
