I was talking about The Butterfly Effect movie.
I'm not so sure that Mass Effect has sent out a message that devs can skip on some of the more traditional RPG elements, but rather shown that there is room for games that tell a story well.
Mass Effect's story may not have been all that great, but it was shown in a very entertaining and interactive manner that made it rather unique.

I've been blown away at how much of an incredibly in depth universe Bioware has created. Being able to walk through the Citadel and hear five or six conversations that aren't even vital to the main game really makes the universe seem real.

I initially enjoyed KoA but after around 30 hours or so I just lost interest. No idea why. Can't seem to bring myself to go back and play.
I'll most likely return to the game in the future.

Too Human wasn't horrible, at least I didn't mind it. Duke Nukem had its own issues through the fifteen year development cycle. There is such a thing as too long and Duke Nukem Forever definitely reached that point.
Also, FPS games aren't the best example since for the most part they are very linear and should take less time to 'perfect'.

The whole point was that it was so stupid that they even attempted to make a movie out of it.
Doom was on there, Tekken and DOA would have been on a longer list and I never watched the Street Fighter movie.
Max Payne wasn't great - but top 5 worthy? Nah.
I'm not sure how he keeps getting away with making these movies. Two game franchises on that list were just violated by him.
I wasn't personally complaining.
But there is such a thing as too late. You don't call an ambulance when someone has been dead for a week.
