I think the award for "Most Toxic Gaming Comments Section" will go to this post.
Smoother combat I agree, Witcher 3 is clunky to quite some extent, but I didn't think it was as much of a problem as many people make it out to be, especially considering it's a full blown RPG. I mean if you expect moment to moment gameplay to be exhilerating in an RPG, you are in the wrong place. There are very few RPGs that do combat extremely well, Soulsborne games come immediately to mind.
Nioh, Bloodborne/DS3 objectively have far superior combat and depth than ...
What do you mean objectively? Because apart from graphics, all of those games beat GoW in other aspects such as gameplay depth, narrative complexity etc
Witcher 3
Nier Automata
Persona 5
Nioh
Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne (Can't decide between the two)
Yakuza 0
Hollow Knight
Doom
Hyper Light Drifter
Dishonored 2/Prey
Furi
Ori & The Blind Forest
Zelda BOTW/Mario
In descending order of how I rank them roughly.
That's not 20, but that's off the top of my head.... The games that I'll proba...
No because there are games which are actually better than GoW.... I don't follow critics all that much and consider metacritic to be shit anyways for reference. The only critic I listen to is ZeroPunctuation because his choices align with mine.
I can think of 20 games better than GoW off the top of my head this gen.... But OK.
Good to see that a majority of PC gamers don't support shit developers.
It evolved nicely till early 2000s then took a steep nosedive with cut scenes being flooded and gameplay mechanics becoming shallower.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.... . Cringey music and even more cringier macho voice..... Shut it already.
I love that he used the term platform-agnostic.
I'll probably be one of the few to agree with you, but then I think exclusives get a huge leeway when it comes to criticism. Noticed it with Zelda: BOTW, a good game, but 97 on Meta seemed a lot, same with God of War, 95 is too much (I mean that stranger regenerated his health like what 2-3 times, in other games that would be called padding. Deathbringer being the 3 main bosses in a game would be called lack of creativity). If these games deserve such scores on Meta, games like Nioh, Pers...
This looks my kind of GOTY material. INSANE.
Thankfully you put "MIGHT".....
And no it's not....
It has a lot of walking sections, combat actually feels like a devolved version of the previous GoW games and it tries pretty hard to be extremely serious without giving the player any agency over the story.
So far Game of the Generation is Witcher 3 (Amazing story, massive content, reactive open world), Nier: Automata (Mature themes, quirky, idiosyncratic, amazeballz soundtrack), Persona 5 ...
Looks the same....
But gaming also has the most potential.... Problem is that true visionaries have been pushed to the background and those who want to emulate movies in the medium have been promoted to the top....
If you have a look at Ken Levine's 2014 GDC, he said that gaming has not touched even the surface of what it's capable of as a story telling medium. A partial reason for that is obviously the hardware limitation, because creating multi layered systems and stories dependent ...
They are left in the late 1990s and early 2000s. System Shock, Deus Ex, Planescape, Fallout were just leagues above the lame cutscene bonanzas we get today.
AHAHAHA.....
"Nier: Automata sold because of panties" xDDDDDDDDDDDDD
GoW can't compare to Nier: Automata.... Nier: Automata is on a whole other level.
Half of the comment section..
"It got a 4k update. Now I'll buy it/ get it/ complete it".
Sad state of gaming rn.
Oh the burn hehehehehe.
I geddit
Couldn't have said it better.
Avoiding all Dark Souls comparisons, Nioh marks an exceptional return to form for Team Ninja and is definitely in my Top 5 games this gen.
