It's so fun to try out different strategies in the StarCraft 2 beta.
Well, not many major new games are unveiled at PAX.
Call of Pripyat is quite polished. There are very few bugs.
While Half-Life 2 uses an older version of the Source engine, it does attach the necessary tools required to play this mod, which uses the Orange Box version of the engine, to your account. Download 'Orange Box SDK Base' from the Tools tab in Steam and you'll be good to go.
They should've canceled the 360 version years ago. It's going to flop hard.
Well, the PC version gets Squad Rush on launch. For the console versions, Squad Rush is exclusive to GameStop pre-orders for the first 30 days.
That's because that's just a building in an outdoor environment.
In levels where the game is mostly indoors, it looks amazing. The SSAO adds a lot to the graphics.
Blizzard has already invited major StarCraft teams to playtest the beta. From what I can tell, from the pool of players they've already invited, Blizzard is already getting tons of feedback. Hundreds of threads already on their beta forums. They need a lot of people to participate in the test, including those 12-year-olds with slow computers, to test the performance and stability of the game. They want to gather data from every type of computer.
GoGamer's shipping is $3. So for God of War 3, that would be $53 from GoGamer and $57 from Amazon + shipping. Though, depending on how quickly you want your game, Amazon might be better if you have Prime (2-day shipping instead of something like 4-7 day shipping from GoGamer).
Only RTS game I can think of that uses dedicated servers is World in Conflict.
Call of Pripyat is much better optimized than Clear Sky. It looks just as good, if not better, too. With my 2 year old 8800 GTS 512 (plus 3 year old Core 2 Duo E6600 and 4GB of RAM), I get 40 to 60 FPS at near max settings at 1680x1050. Very smooth gameplay experience.
This is how amazing the game can look.

Killzone 2 was NOT the first. Remember Call of Duty 1, 2, and 4? Rainbow Six? Ghost Recon? Lean has been in games for a long time.
Single-player is using Unreal Engine 3 and multiplayer is using Frostbite...
Wouldn't it be ironic if the multiplayer looked better than the single-player?
StarCraft's 'Use Map Settings' maps kept me busy for over 10 years straight. :D
The worldwide number is supposed to be something like 200,000 beta testers, with more if necessary. There are millions of StarCraft fans out there, but I think there's a decent chance of gaining beta entry. I wouldn't say infinitesimally small.
Man, I hope I get a beta key. I've been looking forward to StarCraft 2 for over a decade.
Maybe the Pokemon RPG will finally move to 3D.
Looks fake.
It's not even possible to build a $4000 PC without diamond encrusting your mouse. Computer parts aren't that expensive. To say they are is like saying the PS3 has no good games--obviously not true and makes you look like an idiot.
Those Z and X commands are still there. This update just removes being able to do something like 'bind c vocalize playerdeath'.
