For those wondering about PC performance it seems ok, get 30-50 fps driving about and 60+ indoors, running an i7 920 OC to 3.8, 10 GB of ram and 7970 6GB GHZ edition. These are my ingame settings

PC doesn't have different gens. It is an ever evolving platform. If you mean nextgen by power, I'd have to say (a higher end) PC is way beyond what consoles can achieve.

Original two games on MSX2.
NES version wasn't a straight port, it introduced several changes. No one thinks of it as a Hideo Kojima game (read it up).
The second NES game was an unofficial sequel.
