"Their (Bioware's) breed of cRPG was popularised with the Baldur’s Gate series just before the new millennium. This consisted of some defining aspects: detailed character creation (not just customisation); immersive character interaction; strategic-based combat that required thought and timing; and a deep, engaging story that was shaped by the player’s choices. This was a game that could only truly be experienced on a PC."

Way to make snap judgment about me Zinc. At what point did I say that Fox News is the only enemy in the media? Oh that's right, I didn't. But I stand by my original statement: Fox News is a fear mongering network and nothing more.
I live in fantasy island, eh? What do you call someone who thinks the government is lying in wait to tattoo us with barcodes? Do me a favor and take off the tin foil hat, and get some fresh air. It just might clear your thinking a bi...
It's simple. Fox News is about fear mongering and nothing else. All you have to do is watch an hour just about any show (but especially the insipid Glen Back), and you'll see that their brand of "news" is nothing more than an attempt to force viewers into a state of fear that the government is out to take over everything they hold dear. It's pathetic.
Agreed. As much as I love a good story, gameplay is what makes a game...a game. If it was all about story, books and movies would rule the day. The addition of gameplay is what defines video games as an alternative story-telling medium.
@ palaeomerus
The difference is, string theory is practically air-tight from a mathematical perspective.
...religion on the other hand, is based entirely on faith (obviously).
Hey there lil fella!
How awesome is MGS 4 on your 360?
...oh wait, that's right fanboys like have been waiting for a port of that one for way longer a year.
Dude, I am so sick of these bullshit "Analyst" articles that are nothing more than some douchebag fanboy's opinion of how one system sucks harder than the others. But this fact is, shit like this is what has been plaguing video game journalism for the past five years; to the point where it's an absolute joke.
Just scroll through the "news" articles on n4g and count how many of them are actually news, and how many of them are opinion. I'll...
So let me get this straight...
MS, who only counts units shipped with every other product, magically knows the numbers of sold through Kinect units? Give me a break.
Where are all of the MS fanboys who shot their mouths off saying "it's IMPOSSIBLE for Sony to know sell through with consoles, so they are reporting shipped numbers!"
Well guess what: if it's impossible for Sony to give us sold through numbers for consol...
Care to provide a few links showing Kinect as #2? If you have them, great; if not, stop talking.
Really?
So the 1-2 shopping malls you went to indicate that "mostly everyone" wants a 360 this holiday?
Something tells me that many of those 360's you're seeing are because that's all you are allowing yourself to see. It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy - look it up.
You asked Rising to show you an article where the PS3 is in the top 3...and he did. He never said anything about Move being top 3.
If you're going to troll, at least try to show you have higher than a 3rd grade education. Thanks a million!
And read some of the above posts. Actually, let me just break it down for you simpletons, so you can understand.
Apple = kills in Japan
Apple = American company
...so, if you're still following me, that means Japan does not only buy Japanese products. The exception is the rule.
It's okay though, you can keep making excuses as to why the Xbox brand doesn't do well. I personally think it was the failure rating wh...
Again, I am not trying to hate, but the article is still a little sparse on details. Profit can be measured in a variety of ways. For example, they could be talking about operating profit, gross profit, or even pre-tax profit. The link says nothing about NET profit. I'm not bashing MS. All I am saying is that articles like these need to be analyzed before the fanboy wars get started.
You are right. Companies with cashflow are the healthiest. But remember, high revenues do not equal cashflow. Expenses must be deducted and dividends must be paid before we know how profitable MS really is. I'm sure they still turned a healthy profit, but it's important not to get revenue and cashflow mixed up. They are two very different things.
Revenue does not equal profit. Higher revenues CAN be an indicator of higher profit, because they are more likely to be converted into cash, but this is not always the case. If MS has a mountain of expenses to accompany the revenue, they may not have made much of a profit at all. Cash is king in the business world. MS' cashflow is the real record of their success.
I'm not trying to be a hater or anything, but articles like these can be misleading.
Revenue does not mean profit. If MS' expenses are through the roof, their 16.2 billion in revenue is meaningless. Cashflow is what makes a business successful.
Just like the original Fable, which over-promised and under-delivered? Or like Fable 2, which...over-promised and under-delivered?
I mean come one - they were good games, but neither one of the previous installments were really earth-shattering.
Now ME and ME2 on the other hand - those were spectacular.
Is that why the Playstation brand has made $63 billion in revenue over it's lifespan?
...get a life troll.
Uhh...the article is about the last fifteen years of the Playstation. So if you want to get technical (and from a sales perspective)...
PS2 - owned every other home console (and most handhelds) in the history of gaming.
@ paleo
Yeah they must be the same goggles that 360 fans wear when they bring up multiplats as justification that the 360 can graphically hang with the PS3...
