Don't remember if this is coming to a Nintendo console, but Hyper Light Drifter is definitely on my radar.
@ jrburdine
So do you think Sony is just going to suddenly stop making next-gen games because they offer BC? I say the larger the game library the better - even if it means just adding the classics to the mix.
@true
So you can go into ANY Gamestop and find them? I'm assuming you've either driven to or called every Gamestop in the country to confirm this?
If you haven't, stop talking.
@nerdmaster
"both are very boxy"
Please explain how a sharp angled parallelogram-shaped object (PS4) and a BOX-shaped object (X1) can both be "very boxy."
What about Hyper Light Drifter? That game looks pretty awesome...better than a few on the list IMO.
@ B1663r
So the console that sells the most is the "biggest loser?" Please explain this to me, because I always thought that more sales meant more profit. Apparently I, and every other accounting 101 professor, have been wrong all these years.
@evil abed
So because PS4 is beating Xbone in console sales its now about game sales instead? What happens if PS4 starts leading in game sales too? Let me guess, it'll then be about North American games sales? Your back pedaling is pathetic...pretty soon you're going to run into a wall with nowhere to go.
@n4rc
Just playing devil's advocate here...but by your logic, should consultants not make money either?
Consultant = "expert" who gives advice on a particular topic
Youtube uploaders = "experts" (of a particular game) who give "advice" about a game through commentary and actually playing the games
A sample of 1,000 is usually pretty good, but it's not sufficient to measure demand for products like ps4 or x1. I mean ps4 sold over 1 million in a day and x1 will likely sell well too, so extrapolating the results from a 1,000 person sample would be difficult.
@ theWB
Completely agree. I'm a Sony guy because, growing up, my best gaming memories were on the PS1 & PS2. Still, that doesn't stop me from admitting that I dig the X1's UI, multimedia capabilities, and some of the exclusives. If anything, I hope MS' focus on the broader audience will lead to more multi-console owners this generation. Maybe that would stop some of the fanboy hate.
@ Pharoah
Wow...just wow. So you'd rather have a superior UI with an inferior gaming experience? I don't care which console you prefer, but this has to be one worst comments I've read in a long time. This would like buying a sportscar with sub-par horsepower and handling, and saying "it's okay because the car has leather seats and navigation." People buy sportscars for the ride, just like gamers buy consoles for gaming. I thought it was pretty o...
Very well said sir....bubbles for you.
@ Paul
You fail to understand how business works. It's about properly leveraging your assets and maximizing return on investment. The fact is, MS makes a much better return in its other divisions when compared to the Xbox. Investors see this and want MS to "trim the fat" and focus on its money-makers. The Playstation brand on the other hand, is quite successful for Sony (even though the company is not doing well as a whole); therefore, investors and analysts...
Honestly, I think MS should license the tech for non-gaming use. I think Kinect could work well as part of "smart house" technology or as part of an advanced home security system. While I'm not a huge fan of it for gaming, I definitely think there is an ancillary market that MS could tap into.
@Pocky
But this isn't an anti-MS article, per say; it's an article calling out the apologist media sites defending the Xbox One. I think the author is pretty spot on with this - we've seen quite a few "does the power difference really matter" articles. I often wonder what kind of articles we'd see if the PS4 was underpowered. Something tells me the gaming media would be ripping the system to shreds.
@ MPOG
Wow - the fact that you think the American media is pro-Sony shows how far your delusions have gone. And the console that you're calling "innovative" was originally intended to block used games and place additional restrictions on consumers. Besides that, do yourself a favor and look up "Sony PSX" on Google - you'll see that many of the "innovative" ideas of the Xbox One were attempted by Sony about a decade ago.
I think that the desire for "easy profits" is driven by rising development costs, which are forcing developers (and publishers of course) to shorten the turnaround time for games. Unfortunately, games are continuing to get more expensive to develop, which means the problem will persist.
I hope I'm wrong though...
@Joe
You're getting disagrees because you're an abvious troll. Nothing you say adds anything to the conversation. Trolls get bubbled down by me and others who think like me - no matter which console you like. If you don't like it, try adding something useful to the dialogue.
The story of Xenoblade was solid and the world the game took place in was among the best of any game, this gen or last.
Lol - that's exactly what I was going to say. FFVII single-handedly put console rpgs and jrpgs on the map, but haters still say the game is "overrated."
