But what this fails to let you know is there were many software and hardware add-ons/ mods that solved game limitations i.e.. the OS Controller Card for Atari 8 bit computers would allow you to freeze the game at any point, save, restore, take screenshots and even allow you to create help pages so you could create map, location and hints.
As you moved forward and as more memory became available games added more and more options/flexibility to the gamer - just go play Unreal Tournamen...
I'm really disappointed in it's direction. I was looking forward to a great track editor, a large mix of car types from superfast to Ford Cortina MK1's, old muscle cars, early 1950's F1, trucks etc etc and throw in an IRC chat system with postable direct game links so ppl can chat and just join.
It seems to be following the "Driveclub" approach

Im not bothered by the loan games, if I wanted them Id have likely paid and played them long before being on PS+.
What would make my online gaming more enjoyable though is dedicated gaming servers.
Didnt play TF1 but I find the rewards system in TF2 quite bland. Besides the low count of weapons the weapon options are weak and repetitive while weapon, player, and Titan skins are boring.
What is excellent is the fluidity and the player and Titan work so well but I do think more is needed to keep gamers coming back time after time.
I could be tempted by the PC version if it turned out to be moddable but somehow I think every effort will be made to make it as non moddable as possible. I always felt Destiny 1 could have been so much more fun using the Patrol areas as 5 to 7 flag CTF, domination, conquest style fps with 16/32 player base. I really don't think a 4 v 4 on PC with standard game options as "features game modes" is going to go down well. I remember when they promoted a new crucible game mode in De...
And right up to the PS4 it was the gamers choice to pay for the subs or not. Now if you choose not to take up the subs all your online games youve paid alot for become doorstops.
Maybe Sony should have mentioned the price hike when they had the subscription on sale for €29.99 a few weeks ago.
But if I wanted them I would have bought them around release or wait till theres a sale - the key being its my choice. I really don't play most of the PS4 offerings.
Also remember they are not free but a loan till the end of you subscription.

Absolutely.. erm but but I've ALREADY paid for the online games.
But that £40 goes towards actual game servers and also few pay £40 as there's often great e-tailer deals.
As for the free games; I rarely play the PS4 offerings unlike the PS3 that had a much better selection - and of course it was optional.
25% jump is quite a hike and is why it shouldn't be linked to online gaming as you've paid top price for the online game, Sony gets a big cut from it and unless you pay this ransom it's just a doorstop. I suppose Sony could have even gone to 50% and there's not much that can be done. Well except I've cancelled GT Sports and Destiny 2 and will look to phase out my PS4 online gaming till my existing subscription runs out.
One thing that I have noticed over the years is there's often cheap deals from e-tailer with Xbox Live while for PSN there's rarely much of a saving (will till Sony offered it for £29.99 just recently).
25% increase and no warning - this is why it shouldn't be linked to online gaming as what choice do you have if you recently purchased some more online games. As others have said it's time to use this to switch away from PS4 and back to PC. Destiny 2 cancelled, GT Sport cancelled.
It's still early days as we don't know just how much content there is but I suspect it's being referred to as an expansion due to using some assets and enemies from D1. To date there are more differences to Destiny year 1 and the Taken King expansion which made huge changes to the game.
As for Crucible it's just less players and smaller maps to accommodate less players, some will prefer it while some won't so maybe it would have been a better move to offer player ...
All looking good but has there been any info if it's going to be the cut back Xbox version or the full content PS4 version?
