Um what? They don't show the top 10 YTD on PS4. That was the top 10 on PS4 for October. God of War is on the top 10 selling games overall for the year.
And yet we've seen games at the end of the month outsell games earlier in the month countless times. Fact is COD has a bigger audience. I expect COD to take it again in November and December since it will be on sale and be included in a PS4 bundle.
You do realize that RDR2 had massive hype and pre-order numbers count don't you? We've seen other games release at the end of the month and still outsell things released earlier in the month. Fact is COD has a bigger audience than the cowboy simulator does.
@Sunny_D it didn't sell 17 million copies they shipped 17 million copies. They very well could've overshipped. We don't actually know what it sold. Also NPD only tracks the US so that doesn't account for RDR2's full sales.
Yep just as I expected. All year long people kept saying how nothing can touch RDR2 when it comes out. Meanwhile I always figured a COD with a battle royale mode would be hard for even RDR2 to top. You never count Call of Duty out if you're smart.
Actually we do get reviews from publishers. Most of them in fact including Fallout 76. The author of the review is simply taking his time reviewing the game. Not sure what embargo's you think we broke either. If we did that we wouldn't have good relationships with publishers.
Don't be surprised when the numbers keep piling up for God of War. I've heard tons of games press from various sites saying it's still their GOTY even after RDR2. RDR2 turned a lot of people off with its dated gameplay and the fact that it's not particularly fun to play. Impressive visuals only go so far.
That hasn't been true for awhile now. Go back and look at recent years and the majority of the time it's a game that came out in the first half of the year. Witcher 3, Zelda, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, etc.
Current GOTY race:
God of War: 3 GOTY awards
Fortnite: 1 GOTY award
RDR2: 1 GOTY award.
Will be interesting to watch as it continues to unfold.
@neutralgamer1992 I watched his review and he said he still enjoyed it despite the issues it has. That is true but I guarantee you Skill Up gives his GOTY to God of War watch and see. He was far more positive overall on it than he was on RDR2.
@Ixeasy SoT has barely added any actual content to the game since launch. It's mostly short events with pointless cosmetic items. No Man's Sky has drastically changed over the years and has added far more meaningful content.
Details don't make a game GOTY. Yes the world of RDR2 is impressive in detail but in terms of actual gameplay which matter more it is far behind. It has outdated controls, pacing issues in the story, and has some quite frankly bad missions. It's a game that probably should've been a chapter or two shorter.
Hope God of War wins most of these. It deserves to over RDR2.
God of War deserves it more over RDR2. It's a game that has pretty much no flaws while RDR2 is flawed in the controls, pacing, missions design and more.
Wrong. No Man's Sky has been getting constant updates for weeks even after that huge summer update. It def deserves to be up for best ongoing game. Also the Forsaken expansion fixed most of Destiny 2's problems and there are few shooters that feel better to play than Destiny. That is why it is up for it.
These people here who say Microsoft will dominate will never realize I guess that PlayStation is just the bigger brand worldwide and will always be ahead. They've beaten Xbox every gen even last gen when Sony royally screwed up for years. If Xbox couldn't beat the PS3 they pretty much have 0 chance of ever beating them.
2 Great RPGs studios? Lol sorry but nothing Inxile has made is great. All of their games are average at best.
What will really be funny is when God of War ends up with more overall GOTY's over RDR2 just like TLOU did over GTA5.
People had RDR2 pre-ordered. Evidently not even the massive pre-orders and hype was enough to beat COD. Trust me it won't beat it in November either watch and see.
