This would be a big blow to the PS3. Great for MS and Konami (more copies sold), but would be a severe blow to Sony.

Your logic is flawed. The PS3 sold out cause there was hardly any. The 360 had a twice that launch numbers and it sold out. Wii sold out and it also had atleast twice the launch numbers.

I agree it looks like a good, fun game. Just not sure about its lasting appeal unless it has some sort of career mode and good online play. Its turned out a lot better than I expected.

I think they will only work on the online function. I would be pissed if I was a Japanese PS3 owner and the US version looked a lot better. Not sure if graphical enhancements would be patchable.
At first they said they are on track for 1mil by end of year and now 2mil? They really are shooting themselves... 1 mil was already hard enough to swallow considering there's less than 3 weeks left to get 1.6mil or so out the door.

I'm an xbox fan that has a PS3 under the xmas tree and I think this looks very good if that's how the gameplay looks.
Except for the one with the HUD, this all look like those replay crash sequences,which does not indicate gameplay. Would be interesting to see more pictures with the HUD (speed, lap, ...).
That's the thing.. you don't have to get it for the 360.. its optional. As for the PS3....

We can't try ours yet... my kids' PS3 is still under the tree.. surprised it hasn't tipped the tree over considering how heavy and big the box is.
