PS3 doesn't have a dedicated upscaler like the 360. Not sure if this is a "simple" firmware fix.
But since its currently running on some onboard chip, you would think that the cell could do some of the upscaling. But once its running completely in software, the Cell might have its hands full and since there's no dedicated upscaler on the PS3... this might be the best its gonna get.
Did they fix the 1080i issue? The one about if you don't have 720p and only 1080i, it would play at 480p. I don't think they did.
According to them, Motorstorm is a little better than Sonic :)
And it looks like Sonic(?) was just a tad behind in ratings. 360 looks like it has another "killer-app" in Lost Planet.

That was horrible. I guess that's what happens when they promised 100% BC. They just rushed it out.
Are there PC movie player software out that supports HD-DVD? I have the 360 HD-DVD addon and was curious.

Just got the PS3 for the kids for xmas. They already have the PS, PS2, GC, Xbox, 360, DS, PSP, GB, GBA... All I'm hoping is that the PS3 doesn't turn into the PSP.. No games and a dead media format. Son has not turned on the PSP since we first got it on the launch date.
The PSP was an expensive paper weight... hope PS3 doesn't follow.
So you're now getting so desperate that you want to show the "power" of the PS3 with Full Auto 2. A game that got a "7.8", which is just OK. WOW... good job.
Sony fans could care less, but the problem is for regular consumers. PS3 is getting horrible media reviews and this awards show doesn't help.
Its getting better reviews as a player than a game console.
This is going to be much more common with the 360, PS3, and Wiis with all the patches. Hopefully they will have better QA for the software patches.
You know at least try not to sound like such a fanboy. Its fine that you think Motorstorm looks great, but then try to spin IGN's quotes on Motorstorm as a shot against GOW is pathetic. GOW has awesome reviews from IGN, 1UP, Gamepro, so its PROVEN.
Wait for the reviews for Motorstorm before you open your mouth about how next-gen it is.

The reason is that Sony STATED that the E3 2005 CGI was gameplay! They said "GAMEPLAY" and not target video. That's a big difference. Don't get me wrong.. this latest build looks really good, but is not close to the original CGI.
Where as the Forza 2 and PGR3 CGI that you point to were never stated to be gameplay.
Here's the E3 2005 interview with a VP from Sony. Go to the 3:50 mark... That's why I get so pissed at Sony. They lie too much!
Some looks like replays/ingame movies, while you can tell which are actual gameplay. The gameplay pics have improved compared to the kiosks demos I've seen.
It is disappointing in that Sony fans have been claiming that this will be a killer-app.
