WTF was that post about? Do you have any proof of what you claim? And "Defender of Sony"... oh sh!t... you're beyond fanboy!
Its not a rumor as far as Sony changing the specs on the hardware. The US and Japan launch hardware had dedicated hardware to emulate PS2 games and that's why the BC compatibility was so high. Sony is now removing this hardware, for cost cutting purposes, for the European launch. We don't know that BC compatibility percentage, but it kinda sucks when a Sony's UK PR David Wilson says: "We will continue to offer firmware upgrades to increase the number of titles that are compatible, but ra...
I have a US PS3 and I could care less about BC, but I understand how Sony fans can be really upset over this since Sony promised close to 100% BC.
Now for Sony to say "Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3, truly taking advantage of this exciting technology."
BTW, my PS3 is collecting dust at the moment ...
Since PS3 is primary SKU.. wonder what would happen if 360's version looked better ;)
Another PS3 exclusive now gone to other platforms. It will be a interesting year.
I would have to say the 360 version definately looks sharper... especially if you look at the backround. The PS3 version seems to have some jaggies in the backround.
This is a PS2 game really... so the PS3 doesn't have one either. And as far as the "great gameplay transcends graphics" comment, Sony's and its fans are the ones that always mentions 1080p this, hdmi that, and so on.
and what's sad is that Sony fans will spin this bad report as "PS3 selling 3X as much as 360"! I have a PS3 and a 360 and this is bad news.
Talladega Nights came with the first 100k(? actually forgot the number) PS3s. I know cause my 60gig version came with it along with coupons.
A Sony spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz, "This is just one of a number of value added incentives that retailers will be offering to mark the launch of PS3."
I understand when you talk about cheaper parts during the lifetime, but we're talking about a price cut within this year.
I don't think Sony can afford to lower it any more until the actual cost goes down. If they lose $300 per console, can they afford to sell a lot? That would put them so deep in the hole.
DJ, I don't believe those sold well in Japan. Here was the first 2 days of sales.
Ridge Racer 7: 21,654
Mobile Suit Gundam: Target In Sight: 21,309
Resistance: Fall of Man: 13,545
Genji: Days of the Blade: 8,766
Sega Golf Club: 1,410
And here's a quote from another article about Motorstorm sales:
"According to actual sales charts, MotorStorm has sold about 8,000 units by December 10th and probably a couple thousand or so m...
Last time DJ spoke, he still didn't even have a PS3 yet.. I think it was too expensive and waiting for more $$$.
So what you're trying to say is that the HDMI offsets the lack of a true scaler? Or just trying to make an excuse for not having a scaler which really screws up people with "wrong" HD TVs.
"And why is everyone asking for links? "
Kinda funny since you're usually the first person that asks for links. And then when you're asked to provide the same thing, you can't cause its from "published" articles.
Btw, when links are provided to you, you always manage to shoot them down saying the source isn't credible even if its a developer.
the difference is that with the 360, we can wait for delayed games cause there great games now. But for the PS3, you only have RFOM and then nothing for months. I should know, my PS3 has been collecting dust since xmas.
The topic is about how poorly the PS3 is selling in Japan, but yet now all we keep hearing is how great Blu-ray is and how bad MS is and so on. It's been the same thing on the supposed "scaler" that the PS3 has. It doesn't sound like a real hardware scaler, but just a poor software workaround so the PS3 fans have changed the subject on that thread.
I've yet to hear your input on this supposed "scaler" that the PS3 has. All I've heard is you do is change the subject.
It will be interesting to see the compatiblity list on 3/23. Software emu will definately be a lot less, but the upscaling should be worth it. Of course PS3 fans will rejoice and not realize it will be just like the 360s emu that they've bashed.
