Well good sir, this is what can happen when you buy into hype, you can get disappointment and a massive dose of reality was handed out to everyone banking on FF XIII. I didn't get into the hype aside from 'gee that looks like a nice game to play' and so I didn't feel devastated.

It's the fact that many people had heavily criticized the PS3 for requiring some games to install on the drive to... alleviate load times (unfortunately inherent in the Blu-ray drive given it's first gen and there's a HUGE amount of data to be read.)
As well there were many naysayers about the 360 requiring installation ever.

I'm going to break things down a little harshly; The DS is mainly for gaming simpletons. Do I really want to raise a new age nano baby on my DS? No. Children love it since games are non-complex.
The PSP appeals to a different demographic entirely. I'd say a more mature demographic that what the DS has been going for.
Um, I know it's not an original game type as Raw Danger and Disaster Report are already out there.
Aside from that Prince of Persia draws roots from DOS era games. So it's a long running franchise. And since when does boss battles being boss battles turn into a bad thing.

Yeah it was highly hypocritical of Nintendo to start off talking about the need to not copy and then end up copying Voice chat, The Star Wars dueling game, Rock Band / Guitar Hero in some freakish zombie resurrection of air instrumenting.
Really, I think they've lost their edge and want to try and roping in the people who may go to the 360 or PS3 for more fun than what the Wii is giving them.
Sounds a boat load like what Diablo II proclaimed. Yeah it's going to be interesting to see how you count a glock 9mm and a glock 9mm ceramic as a completely different weapon. It's most likely as stated prior small aestecic and silly things. If you had like a musket and some future weapons, that would definately be a new game alltogether.
Exclusive or not, they're still making money hand over fist. They want to capitalize on a primed market is all. You'd do the same if the game began to cost you 100s of millions instead of 10s of millions. This game is no cheap and they're going to maximize profits on it even if it drives some 'OMG FF7 BEST EVAR!' fanboy off a cliff.

There's still a lot happening and a lot more to come. I can't say I heard a PS3 owner griping that they couldn't get Lost Odyssey.
Yeah I'm sure a lot of people want to own another Lost Odyssey. I'm going to say that FF XII will be a four disk release. It was probably to help make a big push for the 360 in Japan more than anything. It will not sell like hotcakes in North America, not for the 360 at least.
I have to say this was for the most part very, very unproductive for Microsoft. They could have done better, much better.
Has it occurred to anyone that they may want to create a series of trailers and teasers that are thematically similar. So what if it's done in the same way, it's better than have two completely different styles which can lead to a idea conflict in the viewer.
It's a method of instilling an idea that they want you to associate the game with.

I highly, highly, highly doubt they're going to push a new PSP. Not after making the 2000 series so colourful. It's been less than a year and Sony just doesn't toss money around.
However if these are real, I can only picture it being a limited edition or special package.
Best way to compare is get casing images of the PSP-2000 series.
