@Godchild: well, actually operators here give you top tier smartfones or consoles for "one euro". Of course you pay for them during the 24-month contract but you still get unlimited calls and a data plan. All in all, you pay one year for the phone, one year for services.

You should remember media features of XBL are mostly limited to two countries: US and UK. If Microsoft focuses on those features, they will limit their market target to less than 50% of what they can reach with games.
