"I think the ship has sailed" implies it's long gone, that it won't be happening. Obviously T2 has plans to make it happen if the trademark has been extended.
Whether or not it will be soon remains to be seen.
I get the impression they saw the success of the Wii and the casual crowd, but didn't consider that since the launch of the Wii, the core crowd grew.
I am not a fan of Call of Duty, but I believe it contributed greatly to the growth of core gamers. CoD fans are not the absolute hardcore gamer that is always under-appreciated, the gaming "geeks", but they're now the mainstream gamer and they're wanting more than just a casual experience.

Less addictive? Isn't the whole point of a mobile game to be addictive?
Dude already has tons of money, I'm sure, so I guess, why not, do whatever you want... but it sounds stupid.
This was going to happen regardless, but they really should have done it sooner. The masses have already sided with PS4.
Almost every time I go to Gamestop, people are trashing the Xbox One. Some people talking about how they sold theirs after being so disappointed with it.
Personally, I love the technology of the Kinect, but as a gamer and a developer, I see little use of it as a standard peripheral. There are many applications it could be used for relating ...
@Reverent
Only way I play it. Still ugly compared to almost any other CryEngine game.
On the topic of minorities in media, it's not even on the same level as racial minorities, which is what really gets me when people make arguments comparing race and sexual orientation (which does happen).
You can't usually *see* homosexuality. It's not always a visual thing. Any character that hasn't clearly shown he's only into the opposite sex could be gay, or bi.
If you notice a distinct lack of black people when there's a likely ...
The way I see it, if a character happens to be gay, that's great and all, but there's no reason to make it like that just for there to be a gay character. Just as there's no reason to really stress that a character is straight, unless it actively contributes to the story or character development.
If we just treat it all with normalcy then it will all, eventually, just be normal.
You start forcing things, it will always be difficult for it to be ac...
CryEngine doesn't automatically mean it will be amazing looking though.
State of Decay is one of the ugliest CryEngine games I've ever seen.
Ugh. I'm a dude who likes dudes and I'm absolutely sick of all this "EVERYTHING MUST BE GAY", and vise versa, crap.
With Early Access, at least you know it's not done. That's the choice of the buyer to purchase an incomplete game, rather than getting a AAA product that you expect to be complete, but has lots of day-one DLC and plenty of bugs with it.
I enjoyed Aliens: CM, but that might just be because I got it long after release and many bugs were taken care of. Plus, I never saw the demo footage, so it never seemed like a "downgrade" from what was promised, at least to me.
Wow, people don't like being friendly about this, I guess.
Fact is, both PS+ and GWG are amazing programs that do a great benefit for consumers. No reason to bicker about which is better, in the end all gamers win when companies are convinced programs like them are a good idea.
Compromising? ON THE INTERNET?
(I do agree with you, though)
Slow news day, it seems.
Honestly, I like Sony dominating right now. They're trying hard to keep it up and Microsoft is attempting to topple them, which is bringing more interesting games out.
When it was Microsoft on top, they were kind of complacent and while Sony was putting out some great exclusives, they seemed to kind of accept their position.
I want Sony to continue to blow me away and I want Microsoft to be a little beneath so I, the gamer, can reap the benefits.
If it's making enough money, they could shutter down to almost nothing and build back up, if they wanted to, from Playstation.
Do consoles and games and nothing else, like Nintendo.
Good technology is no longer a market of just geeks and nerds, meaning quality and power does not equal sales.
Companies need to be "hip", the products seen as "cool", not just well-made and worth the money, at least when they're the size of Sony.
Beats by Dre, a mediocre brand of headphones that sell like hotcakes all because they are designer. It's all about designer electronics now, from celebrities and companies that push that...
@mpnothanks
Rampage was decent, as was Assault on Wallstreet.
His video game movies are always expected to be crap, though. Except Postal, in my opinion or... at least the crappyness was appropriate.
It's nice, but I'm always disappointed in directly porting assets just because there's so much more that could be done now. Much more detail that's more optimized through UE4 than the special UE 2.5 for Bioshock.
@0ut1awed
As far as the physics compared in that video, it ain't easy to beat Euphoria. That's just one of the most beautiful physics engines of all time.
They probably could have done better, but... Euphoria sets the bar high in the physics department.
