What a load of unsubstantiated crap.
BC is a great, consumer friendly feature, period. It's convenient and allows people to play their old games on current hardware, which means they can sell their old hardware or have an alternative place to play their old games when their old hardware dies. Also, these games often get visual and performance boosts.
Yeah, we buy new consoles for new games, but so many of us want the choice of being able to play legac...
"To be fair the XSX does something similar but at a slower speed."
Nothing but truth there. Not sure wh-- nevermind.
The SSDs are definitely game changers and those CPUs as well.
Truly a new gen.
A Link to the Past is still my favorite Zelda game of all time and one of my all time faves in general. So, so good on the NES.
Streets of Rage 2 is also my favorite SoR game so far with an awesome soundtrack.
@tim
Why is that overkill?
If you're arguing that they misallocated their resources then you should say so and expand on it, but you didn't, you just said it seems like overkill.
By that logic anything could be overkill. If this technology has the capability of creating exponentially more audio objects in a scene at one time" why reduce or minimize that standout capability?
This is nothing but a *good* th...
"Issue arises when people who THINK they are tech savvy try to argue by regurgitating numbers and terms they know nothing about like their all a bunch of hardware engineers."
Oh man do I ever agree.
Not only that, but if one 'does' have some knowledge of tech, they're only going to talk up the tech of the brand they prefer, while minimizing and reducing or just plain ignoring the tech of the other.
Naturally with ...
Powerpyx always gets the job done.
On the spec portion, definitely, but the specific feature reveals from Xbox, e.g. multiple games in suspend-resume, were indeed meant for players.
I'm also going to add that yes, while they were geared towards developers, they were also aimed at tech savvy gamers and anyone interested in general.
Totally contrary to what a certain YouTuber has been saying - glad James spoke up.
That said, I'd love to go back to the Cold War in another Black Ops game. The original Black Ops is the only Black Ops I really liked.
Being prompted/inspired to self-educate is a good thing, but not all these dudes know what they're talking about, and if they do, they're (some yet not all) most likely using it to talk up whatever machine they prefer. Not genuine.
I'm educating myself as well, but I'm mostly just interested in the games because I know both machines will be totally satisfactory.
Cerny can only work with what he's given, and part of his job is to convince the people on the business side that the console needs this or that. They can only be pushed so far, however.
Cerny convinced Sony that they needed 8GB instead of 4GB in the PS4.
I'm pretty sure the PS5 is a remarkable machine and Cerny has done everything in his power and intellect to make the best, most efficient use of PS5's components.
It's only Day '2' of knowing and comparing and I'm already worn the hell out on this.
It's only Day damn '2.'
This.
It's exciting when new-gen consoles drop, but I'm already worn out on the spec talk. I'm just glad they're here and looking forward to the games.
Let's be honest: The PS5 is no slouch in any area.
The Series X is more powerful in most areas but the PS5 also has that fast SSD that will load details very, very quickly. They can also use it to bolster other aspects. The PS5 is going to be a great console. Period. Be happy about both consoles being awesome.
These are the meaningful upgrades we and developers have asked for in hardware and both companies listened well.
@darth
"For speed comparison its like a cheetah vs a lion. Both really fast and can catch their prey but the cheetah is faster while the lion is stronger. Both really good predators (which means Nintendo is the prey.")
Hahahaha. That inclusion of Nintendo as prey made me laugh heartily.
Let Nintendo Nintendo on.
Well, let's just say it's a disappointment.
I fully expected the 'full' library of PS4 games (at least) to be immediately accessible on the PS5, as well as some sort of upscaling solution that could bump up old games and give them a new sheen. We got "100 of the most popular" titles instead, and I'm not sure if they're enhanced in any way. Not great as of yet.
The terrible, shortsighted argument that says "I buy new ...
So much for Trump's call to gamers asking them to 'rise up' and fight the coronavirus.
We're getting some damn impressive results these days, but I don't think we're there yet - in fact I don't think we'll see the uncanny valley in our lifetime, if ever.
When video games no longer look video gamey whatsoever; when the entire game world including distant objects are as detailed as what's in front of your character, maybe then.
I'm happy that I'm alive during this age and have been able to witness man (develope...
Yeah, Naughty Dog and Guerrilla are devs I can't wait to see just harness the heck out of this hardware. I'm still impressed by the lighting in KZ:SF - some of the best volumetric lighting I've seen to this day.
Yeah, but they're on virus vacay so don't feel too bad.
@Master
Agreed.
Some would have you believe that since the PS5's SSD is so good, the SXS's is total crap or something along those lines. Not the case - the SXS's SSD is nothing but a boon, slower or not.
Yeah, I'm curious to see how developers play to the individual strengths of both machines. As I get older I get more interested in 'how the sausage is made' so to speak.
