Some silly, over-the-top reactions here. Been a hoot to read.

Your guess is as good as mine on that last bit, but I do know what you're referring to when you talk about lanes.

You're right that not all of the old side-scroller beat-em-ups were how I described, but many were, like Golden Axe for example. Missing and poor timing meant real punishment in that one.

It looks like lane accuracy is very important here, and attacks such as the drill won't have AOE or splash across lanes.

You're making it sound nefarious when this is hardly the case. There's a mutual trust here.

They know they'll be free to do what they want under Sony. Total autonomy - of course not, but Sony will likely approve and back anything they do.

This isn't to say Sony won't have any say - they'll likely encourage the immediate continuation of Spider-Man, but I doubt they'll mind and the fans sure won't.

Overall...

It's a hyperbolic statement and anyone who trusts mere sensationalist rhetoric is a fool.

Show us progress on the games in alpha stages. Tell us about the games. Let us know exactly what you're making, Microsoft. Give us more reasons to anticipate Scarlett. Make it tangible - fuck words.

People want to SEE.

This.

When developers do what they want their products turn out better and we all benefit. When they're ready to do Resistance they'll do Resistance.

Little reachy.

Ori is great fit for Switch, but something bigger and more complex like Halo would be much, much more daunting of a task for developers.

Even though I just said I wished for a dash button, part of what made these old school beat-em-ups challenging was that you were given slow movement, which made it all the more important to time your attacks perfectly.

You couldn't just jump attack into an enemy - you had to make sure you could take him out without being surrounded by other baddies - and those baddies had swift attacks that you didn't.

You had to be very precise and calculating pl...

How is it not a big salvo?

Insomniac games are no small grab, they're a huge get. Sony has objectively dominated Microsoft this entire generation with big game after big game and they're ending big with DS, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us 2. Insomniac is just one more punch to Microsoft's face.

Your argument seems to indicate than only buying third parties that aren't very close to Sony is of any value. Just because Insomniac are clo...

Right - at this point I just want to see announcements for big games or game play if they're far along enough. Just show me some first party material that can actually stand against Sony's first party IPs.

I'll concede that the movement seems a little concrete boot-like. I do hope that walking across the screen can be accelerated in some way. Give me a dash or something.

Some people can overlook slow moment-to-moment game play if they're deeply engaged in a story. Not every game needs to provide the stimuli and pace of typical action game.

I'm not sold, but this game is going to stay on my radar until release.

Could be a dud or it could be great. Looking forward to finding out in any case.

They were a powerhouse studio. Now they're a powerhouse studio backed by Sony. Easy to be excited.

Looks like a hit-and-run with no reasoning to back the opinion.

Valuable comment, really.

For the sake of your strange, partisan feelings?

Definitely going to play through this with a buddy. Looking forward to this and Streets of Rage 4 - two side-scroller beat-em-ups. How I loved these games back in the day.

Definitely a good deal. I've found quite a few gems during my time with Game Pass. Glad I have it.
