Really most of the games listed are either shovelware or small arcade/indie games, certainly nothing to get excited about. I guess it's good that the Switch is getting something, but most 3rd party developers are still not going to water down their games to run on the Switch.
The Switch has only been out for a little more than 5 months, it's a bit early to call it "legendary". Let's see how well it sells now that the hype and artificial shortages are over. Right now the library is very weak unless you're a diehard Nintendo fan, a group that continues to shrink every year.
The Stockholm Syndrome is strong in this one. All your excuses and fantasies don't change the cold hard facts. The PS4 is by far the best console currently available, and the XBox One is clearly the next best. The Switch is a poor man's Mario machine, with weak specs, poor design, hardware flaws, and a tiny library of mostly mediocre games.
And it's funny that you try to brag about games on the Switch that aren't even out yet? You have so little coming out ...
"Switch has the best ip's cant argue that"
Only in the minds of the ever-shrinking group of diehard Nintendo fans, which unfortunately gets smaller and smaller every year. In reality, unless you simply must have every Mario, Zelda, etc. game, the Switch just isn't worth it at all. It's unable to handle current higher spec 3rd party games, so it's only going to get first party games and Indies.
Because Nintendo.
Nah, if it "worked well" in the evaluation stage, they would have gone ahead and ported it. Clearly Nintendo put too little resources into the design and development of the Switch, so it's just not going to handle the more graphically demanding 3rd party games. The Project Cars developers ran into the same kind of problem with the Wii U, which couldn't run the original Project Cars game. Nintendo is just too far behind with their hardware, every generation. And that has con...
None of those games will run even close to the quality of the true consoles, they'll be mediocre scaled back versions. Would much rather play on consoles that can actually handle the games well.
Except, Doom will perform poorly in docked mode, making it run and look much worse than the true consoles. And it probably will run even worse in handheld mode, although the low-res screen will hide some of the ugliness.
Don't get too excited, in the end you're not going to see many graphically demanding 3rd party games on the Switch. It just doesn't have the specs to adequately run them.
The original Project Cars couldn't run on the Wii U, now Project Cars 2 can't run on the successor to the Wii U (Switch). This is what happens when you make gaming hardware that is way underpowered compared to the competition. Yet Nintendo never learns, they continue to make the cheapest possible gaming hardware, to pad their profits from their loyal fans (a group that gets smaller every year).
@ 3-4-5 - Of course I don't own a Switch, it's a poorly designed handheld. And I own Doom on both the PS4 and Xbox One, why would I want to play a bad port just because it's on the Switch? Seriously? I'll take the real console versions over the poor Switch port any day.
Yep, it's really a joke that they even bothered to port Doom to the Switch, the handheld just doesn't have enough power to properly run it. Weak CPU and GPU, too little RAM, almost no internal storage, poor battery life, etc.
It was a gimmick, didn't really add anything to gameplay and the effect was poorly implemented in the original 3DS and XL due to the very narrow area where your eyes could perceive the 3D. Unfortunately Nintendo is always searching for gimmicks in their gaming hardware, to differentiate themselves, and those gimmicks degrade the gaming experience, rather than enhancing it. Look at the Wii and Wii U for other examples of this exact problem, both systems were built entirely around gimmicks ...
All the ACA Neo Geo releases are really well done, and they're not censored. Also SNK Playmire itself recently released Samurai Shodown V Special for the PS4 and Vita, and that includes all the fatalities and is a fantastic game (the last official Neo Geo release).
Doesn't matter how Nintendo "classifies" the Switch, in the end it is just a handheld system that can optionally output to the TV, like many before it. And the 3DS is essentially dead, the Switch is its successor. No amount of PR from you or Nintendo will change that.
Unfortunately there really isn't enough coming to Switch to make it worth buying, and the outrageous cost of peripherals is a great reason to skip the handheld. Nintendo is once again trying to squeeze consumers with hugely overpriced hardware and accessories, and people should vote against this anti-consumer approach by not buying their products.
I'm sure you would prefer to live in a world where every discussion about Nintendo is limited to just the diehard fans who support their products and games. Unfortunately that's not how it works, we all have the freedom to express our opinions, whether they be positive or negative.
All of your articles paint a rosy picture about Nintendo's products, no matter how bad they are. You wrote many glowing articles about the Wii U too, but no amount of damage control ...
And this is a prime example of why the Switch will fail. Most Nintendo fans simply buy Nintendo's own first party games, and skip the 3rd party games that have been ported from other consoles. 3rd party developers will then stop producing games for the Switch, and Nintendo's own games are not enough to sustain the system. Then Nintendo fans complain about the lack of 3rd party games on their system! It's not hard to see why this attitude will directly contribute to the failure of ...
Indeed it does. Now that the sales have slowed down since the hype and artificial shortages have ended (I've seen plenty of Switch handhelds at local retailers and they're not moving quickly), and people are realizing just how few games are in the pipeline, the system will begin a gradual decline just like the Wii U before it. There are still some more diehard Nintendo fans out there who will be buying it, but that core of fans is not enough to sustain the system in the future. Unless...
If you're a fan of Nintendo's own games. If not, there's very little to motivate people to buy one.
Last I heard this was an import only title as a high priced physical LE, is it getting a North American release anytime soon? I loved the game on the Saturn, would like to see it get released on PSN (or even better, as a standard physical release in NA and EU).
