The reason is Uncharted 3 at least had a decent story and great Set pieces which were leagues better than Gears 3. You can debate that MP is equal on both, but no way in hell was the Single Player of Gears 3 even in the same league as UC3.
A lot of these awards focus on the story. That is why UC2 won it in 2009 and MW2 didn't even though the MP on MW2 was played by more than 20 million people.
Also, even graphically, UC3 on consoles is unmatched. Gears 3 ...
Ubisoft really needs to put their backs into the next AC3. Making a series annual means a slum in quality. I even felt brotherhood was disappointing compared to AC2. Ubisoft dropped the ball with Prince of Persia as well by making stupid spin offs later. Hopefully the series gets the magic of AC2 back.
All companies report shipping numbers. Gears 3 'Shipped' 4 million in week 1, MW3 'Shipped' 10 million on day 1 etc... It always works that way. I dunno how people on N4G get so worked up about shipped and sold numbers. If UC3 sold 4 million on day 1, then it would have broken MW3's record on PS3.. Be realistic. The games probably sold around 2 million.
A word of advice dude... When Uncharted 4 is announced, don't look at any of the videos or trailers. I had a total media black out when UC3 was announced and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

^^^ I ain't saying it's impossible. I always play the 'Hard' mode of any game after my 1st play through just to get a more fun experience. I play my 1st play through to just enjoy the story, whereas hard more is for combat fun as it takes more shots to kill and you are more vulnerable. At this point of time, the controls will kill Drake more than my incompetence if I play on hard and mar my experience.
To top it off, the enemies this time seem more aggressive...
It's not lag, it's the dead zone that is the issue. The reticle moves only when you move the analog stick to the extreme as opposed to in UC2 when the deadzone was small and it moved as soon as you even twitched it a little. I don't know how ND are measuring it and calling the aiming same as UC2, but that issue should be sorted ASAP.
The funny thing is, the same issues aren't seen in the MP, only SP. ND just have to patch the controls to be similar to MP and ...

Instead of bickering about who deserves the award more, you should be happy that we are getting so many good games this year. UC3, Batman, Skyrim, BF3.... All AAA titles. All devs deserve the accolades as opposed to 1. They've all put in years of hardwork.

Although I am looking forward to UC3 more, I am still getting Batman:AC.... The game looks phenomenal and I also want to support Rocksteady...
I am tired of FPSes, so no BF3 or COD this time... Fall is gonna be consumed by 3 games for me... UC3, Batman and Skyrim. Don't care which gets GOTY, all look awesome.

Sorry, but UC series has the best gameplay among TPS. It brings something, Gears can't and that is vertical scaling and platforming.
UC is a mixture or tremendous graphics and awesome gameplay. That is why it's regarded as a perfect package and is regarded as one of the best TPS...
Gears is great as well, but when it comes to choosing one, it has to be UC... Perfect package of graphics, gameplay and story telling.
I think Ubisoft will keep on milking AC:XYZ till this gen gets over. Then, next gen they'll unveil AC3.
I am kinda done with the series until AC3 comes out. I care less about the countless spin off's that come out, but if the news is true, then it's great news for Vita since the series has a mass appeal. And it's ironic since one AC for 3DS got cancelled...

I ran into that glitch yesterday... Only thing I had to do is restart the PS3 and everything went back to normal (however, the glitch persisted even when I restarted from the checkpoint, but a reboot solved the issue). I dunno why the media sensationalizes every God damn glitch in this game.
