I still can't believe people still think it's current gen. IBM Power 7 with it's awesome edram/AMD GPGPU means extremely high bandwidth and performance. I swear, kids these days don't know anything about architecture, or the effort it takes to learn a new architecture when a programmer has to run software in a very specific environment.
Seriously. Consoles really aren't that expensive. I own them all. If you want something, you budget accordingly!
@theLyonKing
Except hardware wise it is. IBMs power 7 chip, and one of AMDs GPGPUs which was first released last year. By your definition then, we could infer that the Xbox 360 and PS3, when first released were not true next gen either. This is because the GPUs in both of those systems were already out of date(especially the PS3s... Cell and its' SPUs make up for a lot of the GPUs shortcomings).
If you look at architecture, and specifically the focus on increasing...
You know what's holding the Wii U back, anti-Nintendo sentiment. This past generation, it's just become disturbingly popular to hate on Nintendo.
It's a next gen console despite what many naysayers believe. 350 is awesome for a next gen console. Xbox 360 and PS3 both launched for more.
You know how fans should respond, get a Wii U! Heck if you're one of the gamers that skipped out on the first Wii this time around for whatever reason, it's a good chance to explore an excellent backlog of titles~
Well, it's a little bit different. Since Platinum games is an independent developer, they need a publisher. Enter Nintendo with the publisher's hat on! It's like Last Story, which was developed by independent studio Mistwalker. Nintendo just won't pay a publisher huge sums of money to only release a game on their system, or to timed release a game on their system.
@lordme
Wouldn't doubt it. That said, I love Platinum games, so the more, the better~
It's so true. Unless Microsoft sells the publishing rights to EA, it kind of sucks to be a PS3 or Wii U only owner.
Wish it would! I've just pre ordered a Wii U and ZombiU.
oops. triple posted.
Just because something has a lot of features, doesn't mean that you have to use all of them. Though the author is right... I shudder at the amount of time people might spend on this thing. lol
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it as I am an avid netflix user. Though I've always just used it on my PS3.
oops. triple posted.
I skipped my last class today to make sure I could get my pre order in. Also pre ordered Pikmin 3 and Zombie U.
@yewles
Exactly. When was the last time they made a console COD that actually ran at 720p? lol
At first I was thinking it was a bad move. However, Nintendo's reasoning is pretty good. It's so they meet demand. If they produce the same number of game pads, then only a percentage would be included with the system.
Nintendo's warranties are pretty good about things like that though.
Uhhh...what? I know for sure that I'm getting the PS4. Sony has a lot of amazing in house developers, and I know I'd be missing a huge chunk of the gaming pie if I didn't get their next offering. Xbox on the other hand... While I do own a 360.... I'm thinking that most of the multi plats will probably be better on PC anyway, so, I might skip them next generation. Only time can tell, though.
DirectX 11 is microsoft proprietary. Since the 4000 series, AMD(ATI) cards have supported tessellation which is the most important feature of DirectX 11. In other words, it's supported. The features. Not directX 11.
Excellent point rainslacker.
