"This update feels like half-measures on things that should've been built into the system from the start."
Welp, they weren't. So it's a decent start to a long generation.
"Cold Storage is here, finally, but games still need to be downloaded to system storage first"
This is probably due to how Sony packages the files on the SSD when downloading the game compared to how it works on a HDD.
"I have the 4Tb hooked up to my ps5 that I had on my pro that is already 93% full"
😳You download everything in your library or something? Im assuming you have a data cap for your internet? I cant imagine how much you are willing to fork over for a M.2 drive for your PS5 to future proof storage if you have 4 TB almost full on external storage just for PS4 titles alone. On the bright side... Next-Gen games aren't expected to be nearly as large as most ti...
Ive never even had issues with rest mode while having a game running. Ive done it with these games multiple times: Demons souls, SM:MM, Sackboy, Hitman 3, GOT, GoW, TLOU2, and Days gone.
"And I don't think anyone has nailed down how or why it happens or if it's just certain games."
This is probably why they haven't fixed it yet. They need more logs showing what causes the issue. It's probably a smaller issue than people are thi...
Or... you could get an external drive to cold store the games so you don't need to delete. 🤷🏻♂️
"This is pretty cool."
This is nothing new to the PS5. Been that way since Day 1. PS5 games being cold stored on external storage is whats new here.
Some people were experiencing corrupt storage issues while being in rest mode. Most people that seemed to have the issue were using external storage in tandem with rest mode but this issue has gone pretty quiet lately. Sony did confirm that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. But if you aren't having issues, I wouldn't worry about it. This isn't happening to every owner.
I haven't had any issues with rest mode since launch besides when the power goes out at my house which obviously isn't Sonys fault. I just need a backup battery setup in my entertainment center. Ive had about 6 brown outs at my house over the past 2 months and my PS5 is still alive. However, I now keep it off completely since this weekend until I get a backup battery just to be safe since its not good for any hardware to deal with constant brown outs.
You most certainly can play PS4 games on an external drive. 🤦🏻♂️Getting upset about something on a console you don't seem to have is hilarious. Im assuming you don't have one since you don't know that this has been possible since day 1.
@GamerRN
Well its a good thing this update came out for a temporary solution when you do need to download something else without deleting others.
Every controller available for each console uses the same components for the Joystick. But the focus is only on the Dual Sense while the issue is happening to every console manufacturer.
An unknown developer that came out of nowhere and basically has no official website besides the link provided in this article. Back before MGS5 was officially named it was Just called The Phantom Pain developed by "Moby Dick Studios". And again for PT which was being developed by "7780's Studio". Both were made up to initially hide it being a Kojima game because thats what Kojima loves doing when teasing his projects.
This however doesn't seem t...
Same could be said for the XSX... they aren't doing 4k60 across the board either. 4k@60 IMO is also a waste of resources when the difference between 1440p and 4k in motion wont even be noticeable to justify the cost of rendering in native 4K unless the game isn't graphically demanding in the first place.
I feel like he doesn't understand that he can have both digital and physical without causing issues. Its plain common sense IMO. And he's willing to wait for the physical version later on when he can essentially just "rent" it on PS+ until the physical one comes out for him to spend more money than necessary.
Just enjoy it on PS+ for now and then buy it physically when it's available. Why wait to enjoy it just to have a disc? Having it on disc isn't going to change how much you enjoy the game. You aren't exempt from owning a physical copy if you add the digital version to your library.
With all due respect, your logic in this instance is very dumb. I get the whole wanting to have ALL physical copies but if you are paying for PS+ why not take advantage of what you ar...
It sold 8 million in 3 months. They easily could sell more if they kept it available.
Norman just asked a question... Where in his comment did he say this is bad for gamers to look forward to??
It's already been said that there's no free upgrade aka smart delivery with this game. Either you play it in BC mode or you pay for the next gen version and that goes for both consoles.
Show us a link proving this. Oh wait..... there isn't one. Cut the crap, nobody here knows exactly why or how this happened. Everyone saying this is just speculating and nothing has been confirmed by Sony and it probably never will be.
Odds are that they store all digitally purchased goods in the same servers so they can be accessed on your account. They would or should have no reason to separate PS1,PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5 digital goods to the point that they would shutdown access specifically to different legacy console games without doing it for all console generations.
Same concept for Steam on PC. If you purchased the game on steam but is no longer being sold on the store doesn't mean you cant get...
Nintendo VERY RARELY drops their first party games prices. All their first party games are still $60.... At least the ones charging $70 initially don't permanently keep them at that price forever. I know you can buy at other retailers with more sale opportunities but that doesn't make it okay for Nintendo to basically never do it. Breath of the Wild is still $60... a 4 year old game as of march 3rd.
