Nobody is knocking the game dude... They are knocking the devs/publisher since they broke a promise they stated before launch. Now they just so happen to start charging for cosmetics after MS officially owns them now. Bottom line is they broke a promise. End of story.

The fact that its not a straight up yes or no is an obvious sign that this is just a timed exclusive. I could be wrong though but when a dev says "we have no plans" or "We are concentrating on these specific platforms" usually ends up on the other consoles down the road. And they are more than likely contractually obligated to not speak about the competitors system until a certain time.

I completely understand that concern. I actually heard that biome 4 has a legit checkpoint due to how difficult it can be. Im assuming biome 4 is the last one if thats the case. So maybe once you get to that point it wont be too bad lol.
I have a feeling they will add save points to some extent with what everyone is complaining...
All that info but didn't bother bringing up the respawn points you can pay to activate in each biome to have a chance on avoiding a new cycle. It is nice to know that the 4th Biome has a checkpoint due to its difficulty lol.
You are making it sound like this is a perma-death style situation like TLOU2. Theres multiple "worlds" that you traverse through which all end with a boss that opens a checkpoint portal so you don't have to beat that boss again. It's similar to Souls games but lacks campfires (mid level checkpoints) but instead has teleporters that persist even after death to help you traverse the map faster in the next life. Theres even respawn points you can spend Ether on to have another...
the map layout changes after each death but I've only died twice and my second death restored me from a restoration point on the map i paid Ether to activate a one time respawn. My goal is to at least beat the first boss without starting over.
There are items and abilities that are permanent even after death so its not like you are starting completely over like permadeath on the last of us. Theres also shortcuts and teleporters that you can find that I believe stay ava...
Just Played last night and at least the first world after your first death is roughly an hour to fully complete. I didn't finish it because I didn't trust myself to beat the boss at 1:30am tired AF lol. Other reviewers are even saying each "checkpoint" which is after the boss battle is roughly an hour. I don't really think I got into my feelings with any of this discussion. It's a shame that the tone of peoples comments get taken the wrong way so easily on the internet. I don't see that as a large issue considering even if you saved your current progress it would be irrelevant the next time you die since you still start from the beginning only with what abilities/items are allowed to come with you after each death which is the equivalent of what would happen when you shutdown your PS5 or quit the game.
