If the sales stay this low it doesn't matter if MS pay for any gap, SE simply will not make another title if the fanbase/sale potential isn't there.
The length some people are going to in order to defend this awful decision by SE/MS is ridiculous, people care about the longevity of the franchise and this deal with SE and MS has put that in to doubt with awful sales.

Erm, the article itself is pitting the 3DS against HOME consoles... so of course that is a subject for discussion.
3DS sales are very impressive but it has been on the market for almost 2 years longer.

I find the gameplay, dynamic difficulty, and playability fantastic.
However the story and characters are piss poor, Sutherland doesn't have any lines, and the ones he does have sound completely devoid of any emotion or passion, Ocelot has become Bronco Ocelot, Quiet is terrible, an Huey is just a whiny little backstabbing *****.
The story is a massive let down and I do not think it deserves GOTY.
I'll keep my expectations in check, but would absolutely love for the series to get revived.
At the very least, I'd also be happy with remasters :D
I disagree to an extent, there are several factors and the release date is certainly one of them.
- Release Date, this was a laughably awful decision.
- Considerably lower install base.
- The reboot sold better on PS3 and PS4 than Xbox platforms, especially PS4 to X1.
- Huge negativity and fan backlash regarding the exclusively deal.
- Tomb Raider has always been associated and more synonymous with Playstaion.

Good thing is that it's a choice and you don't have to use or pay for it if that's the case, but let's wait for details first :)
Just because of a few minority fanboys say so doesn't mean everyone says so, a console fanbase isn't a hive mind.
This is pretty cool though, if they could add PS1 games in to sweeten the deal and with trophy support, whilst cleaning up the resolution and framerate like with the Star Wars games just released that would be amazing, though I imagine not all games would be available and just a popular selection.
