Exactly what I think, I'm sure MS would make a big song and dance about this being such a big exclusive if it was permanent. The fact remains they have had to deny it multiple times, as have CD and on the Tomb Raider forums.

Konami are just doing everything wrong at the moment. PR nightmare, firing Kojima, not saying about all the controversy surrounding them lately.
I think the whole Kojima/Konami thing is a disagreement over Metal Gear, Kojima has expressed his desire to end the series or stop working on it, so Konami have said 'well **** you you're fired and we will make more without you! And screw your other projects too!'.
That's my feeling on it anyways....

There is quite a vocal demand for this, EA should give the green light and outsource it to a reputable dev (i.e Bluepoint) if they want to use Bioware's time/resources purely for the new game.
By the time Mass Effect comes out at the back end of 2016, it will have been almost 5 years since the last game and it would be a great way to bring fans back and for newcomers to familiarise with the series.
