It's strange for a lot of people to cite antiquated weaponry to be the reason for the lack of WW1 games when there tons of other popular games with even more primitive weapons like swords and spears. Sometimes a combination of matchlock guns(even more antiquated than WW1 guns) with swords.
@ShinMaster
It matters for the future. These new hardware will be expensive and not many games will be optimized for them early on but give it time and you'll see future versions of them in the PS5 and XBOne2. Hell, I won't be surprised a whole room of these Octo-core cpus will be powering the XB1's cloud servers.
Say what you want about PC gaming but the fans are pretty much made the future possible. All those praises that everyone showered Sony ...
"If I had a lot of time to game,"
That's why I sometimes felt a bit perplexed by console fans who said that a true gamer shouldn't limit themselves to the PC and expand to consoles. It's a really flimsy excuse since having multiplatform gaming habit would only multiplies the backlog even more and as a result one of the platforms, usually the PC, will be forgotten. For a good example...darkride66's own experience- trying out more experience across mul...
You don't have to limit yourself to a high end PC. Yes, it's strange to say that buying a high end PC as "limiting" but it really does if you consider it as the main point of PC gaming. Console fans considered that the enforced limitation of consoles is some kind of technical wonder while PC elitists are enforcing the idea that we need to buy higher end hardware.
I'm currently gaming on a laptop powered by a Geforce GTX660M, hardly a powerhouse compared...
It is a successful formula but some changes wouldn't hurt. COD was part of the WW2 shooter genre that over-saturated the gaming scenes before it changed to modern warfare.
One danger that comes when clinging to a successful formula is that consumers don't give other titles a chance. There are other games that have new interesting features but get buried under the hype for the next COD. We can also a parallel in Hollywood where movies likes Pacific Rim and Edge of Tomo...
That's a rather bold statement. The thing is, not everyone has or need to buy a PSP while everyone has a phone.
It's interesting to see you funnel your argument to PSP vs DS while ignoring the smartphones' role in gaming considering they can also be used to watch movies, browse the internet, listen to music and be connected to the TV. There's also an emulator app where you can play PSP games on a smartphone. Let's not forget the traditional functions of a...
Look at that. The all-digital naysayers are having a field day with this news. I'm sure they'll bring up this issue again in future physical vs digital debates.
A gaming platform that lacks tons of exclusive titles can generate $33 billions worth of revenue.
Why do we need exclusivity, again?
@Nucky64
PC gamers have been waiting for a lot of games for years now that I don't think they care anymore. Haven't you noticed how eerily silent PC gamers have been whenever a game is delayed for the PC? Not that silent with a number of angry voices here and there but less of an uproar compared the years before.
A game will be late but it will come to the PC nonetheless.
From the articles on N4G that I've read, not many PC gamers trolled ...
The PC has tons of exclusives. Far Cry, Crysis, Doom, Unreal, Wolfenstein, Mech Warrior, Civilization, Battlefield, Diablo and The Witcher to name a few.
Those are such horrible, not must play games that no sane person would port them to any other platforms. Oh, wait...
I fear that might be exactly what will happen if MS do buy Capcom.
Have you seen what MS did to PC gaming when it rolled out the X Box? Have you heard of all the promises they made for the PC since then?
When MS actually made a seemingly serious return to the PC, it was a disappointment. They simply dug old PC titles and re-branded as F2Ps only for Windows 8.
MS has segregated gamers - PC/Windows gamers only get F2P cow-clickers while X Box gets all the other good stuff.
That's how PC gamers felt for years when they receive games that don't push their hardware. They knew their PCs can deliver the most visually stunning games but they seldom gets the chance during last gen.
From the looks of things, even more so for next gen.
Considering that a lot of console owners now were PC gamers(thanks to the PS3 and 360) so yeah, they do have some understanding what 1080P 60FPS means to games. The PS3 jumped into HD from the PS2's Standard Definition so it's logical that the next generational jump should be at least a constant 1080P 60FPS.
Promises were made, hypes were blown up. Not many were kept, most just fizzle.
Ok, let's say E3 is for consoles only and MS don't think it's appropriate for it to show it's Windows games there.
So...
When and where does MS announce it's Windows games in an E3 like manner? As far as I know I have never heard of such thing existed. And ALL of the Windows games that Spencer is excited about are F2Ps with a big focus on touch screen. Another batch of games that keep asking for your money while playing is not something t...
That's exactly what Ubisoft is hoping gamers will do. A controversy like this will help give the main game/story some free publicity while it'll give boost the sales for the side games/DLCs that do have female characters in between.
Why give gamers customizable characters when they can sell those characters across several games? Throw in some controversy and you have free promotion for all of them.
Why does it feel that everyone has been duped into giving Ubisoft some free publicity? They'll keep making the main game with the male protagonist while giving the DLCs and other games in between female.
Same here. I'm hoping for the GTX880 to appear just in time for The Witcher 3 so this wonderful news, speculations or not, indeed. It's about time to replace my GTX570 and move to a high end card.
I've PC gaming since 2001 and have never bought a console. I have never shed a tear for missing out of these so-called console "exclusives."
Sure, put up a whole list of them and I'll cocked my head to the side and asked "So...what?" Are you to buy all of them and play them across several consoles?
The article is correct in a lot of ways. The most important is the presence of PC gaming. Several ago, PC Gamer literally declared in a...
World of Warcraft provided Blizzard with nearly 1 billion worth of yearly profits for years.
Think Destiny will achieve the same level of achievement?
