No one denied that the 3D version of ANY game would have some graphical compromise when compared to 2D. Despite that compromise, Killzone 3 still looks great AND is STILL in pre-alpha stages. I think Guerrilla Games know what they're doing.
For those of you who want to enjoy the game in 2D, you can and I've been told that the graphics will only downscale when the game is played in 3D. So, if that's the case then there's no reason to complain. I complained ...
I thought weather was standard. Did they take it off the table?
Yeah, this is the first I've heard of the media saying something about the graphics being poor. I thought I was the only one.
The game looks like Ocarina of Time on N64 with the poor quality cone grass and the low-res ground textures and all.
I'm pretty sure the Wii can pull off better visuals than this because I read a technical article that said the Wii could render three times the amount of polygons as the original Xbox.
Maybe Valve is being pro-active. Maybe they're deciding that the best way to direct the changes in the console industry is to become involved with consoles. Gabe believed that consoles need to be more open, but I guess he realized that complaining about how they're closed is not enough to make them open. He got involved and I think in the future Sony and by competitive extension Microsoft will design their consoles to be more open like PCs to have full mod-support and connectivity ...
All speculation. All numbers pulled out of arse.
How do you know that the new 360 will only get 3 million new customers?
How do you know it will sell 25 million in the first 24 months? That's really generous, btw.
Killzone 3 was only in pre-alpha stages in that trailer and it really impressed me. The gun models even looked somewhat improved because of the sheen that they had.
I feel like not too long from now our games will approach high quality CGI levels.
They can push it all they want. 3D in theatrical films is a one time only deal that the consumer pays 15 bucks for.
A decent 3DTV costs thousands of dollars. How can you convince someone who recently purchased an expensive HDTV to go out and purchase a 3DTV?
Right now these companies are planting the seeds for 3D to be standard in the future.
The only bothersome part is knowing that everything will become more expensive because of 3D.
Rising was impressive.
If every game that is not a stealth MGS sucks, then Rising sucks.
But as its own game, Rising looks great and has an impressive gameplay mechanic.
Valve will never lose interest in the PC.
Consoles will never be as open as PC. So, Valve will always be a community gamer first unless there is some major change in management.
Kirby's Epic Yarn is by fat the most creative game I've seen.
That shit was so awesome and nostalgic.
this one joined 3 days ago.
There are three circumstances now that are making it harder for 3D to become a standard.
1) High Quality HDTVs are still pretty pricey so people who have purchased HDTVs in the past few years when it has become a standard now will have to go out and pay a good deal more money for 3DTVs.
2) The economy is still pretty bad right now, and the television makers have to convince people to become early adopters of this technology, knowing full well that within a ...
People will take as much oppression as they will take before they will take no more.
The British thought they could keep taxing their colonies. And for a while, the colonists accepted it, and then, they got fucking tired of it and revolted.
I now realize why I don't like 3D. It is just another stupid gimmick that publishers will justify as a reason to raise the MSRP of games to $69.99.
There was no sarcasm in that statement.
Boy, you're a smart one, aren't you? <-- There.
One could same thing about all motion controls. Even with MOVE, rather than just pressing a button on a controller, you have to move the wand in a swinging motion for sword attacks or pull a wand back in a bow and arrow attack.
But those people who like motion controls won't mind, I guess.
How much of an idiot are you?
Because I have beachfront property in Iowa I'm selling.
Fail in sales or critical reception?
The reasoning behind this family bullshit is that this site believes MS and Sony are marketing Kinect and MOVE for casuals and family play, so MS will definitely want the family type shoppers to think that Kinect is a better value for family gamers while MOVE would require more of those wands for 4 or so players.
It must really suck to be one of the VERY FEW people to experience that problem. I'd feel really fucking unlucky.
Microsoft is keeping Sony at bay because they're afraid that Sony will push their hardware as the ultimate entertainment source in the living room, which would render Microsoft's media center useless and thus chip away at Microsoft's bread and butter.
Whoever controls the living room will one day control the computer. Sony might push linux into the forefront and MS is trying to prevent that from happening.
