For me, the PS consoles have always felt like it had a soul, less generic than it's nearest competitors.

It's a never ending debate as to which of the two systems is better.
Why?
Well, because what one individual may prefer or perceive as better is unavoidably Relative, Subjective and extremely personal to that individual.
For me I prefer PS, but my closest friends may prefer Xbox.
Some just go with the consensus, and some humans behave tribal and have a 'pack' mentality.

As it stands you can get 2 games with a PS4 purchase for the price of an Xbox One. $100 is a lot to many people.
That would be awesome losing Kinect for those who have no interest. Seriously, Kinect is a cost driver and the Xbox One can compete on a level playing field cost wise.
This is great news for PS4 users, because competition yields better products, games and services :)

Look, it's a new console...MS will iron out the issues sooner or later, as will Sony with PS4.
But come on, you have to admit the customer service provided to this particular customer is woefully poor.

After I get my PS4 (summertime) I am getting Wii U as my 2nd console of choice. I don't care about sales, the allure of Mario, Zelda & Metroid is too strong, and I love the color pallet of Nintendo's games, sooooo vibrant.
If Xbox One get's irresistible games and the price comes down to PS4 level, I will have to get that at some stage too...my boss will welcome the overtime :)

...and now for some real news.
I actually caught my dad eyeing up the Xbox One on Amazon over Xmas when I visited my parents home. Besides Golf games, my dad has never really been a gamer.
But my dad would never pay $500+ for something like a game console..not if my mom had anything to do with it.
I guess the point I'm making is, it looks like those all-in-one features maybe attractive to the non-gamer after all.

Not sure about the Wii U comparison. Yet sadly, and as much as I'm reluctant to, I have to agree with you. The PS Vita has been reduced to that of a mobile device and second screen companion.

This is the reason why I have chosen not to pick up COD/BF games this year. These games are effectively pointless if you play online with friends and don't purchase map packs.
Looking at it another way, you are buying these games twice over and then some when you factor in the total spend.
I thought most agreed Halo (Xbox original) was the new standard. I always thought the best FPS benchmark was set by Doom or Unreal way back?

It's entirely possible TLOU engine code was written to be upscaled, as seems to be the case these days.
