I think it's about time the PS3 start to show it's power, because I'm seriously doubting it by now.
The big issue is that Madden on Xbox360 has twice the amount of FPS than the PS3 version. 30fps for a game is fine but when the xbox360 can show the same graphics twice as fast, thats when people start making a big deal of it.

What probably happened was that they weighed up the cost of optimizing the PS3 version VS the install base of the PS3 and how much money they can potentialy make. Remember that the games attatch rate is much higher for the 360 than the PS3...
I think it's obvious why people doubt the power of the PS3, no proof. Killzone and MGS4 looks great but only come out next year. Next year the Xbox360 will also have greater titles released. I think that the PS3 will always be playing catchup this generation. If the PS3 don't show it's power by the end of 2008, then I'm convinced that it's a hoax.
I think the problem comes in that Sony told everybody that the PS3 will totaly BLOW YOUR MIND!!!! It will BURY THE 360!! But now that the PS3 is out, it has virtually the same performance as the Xbox360 and the people find it tough to digest. They are trying to hold on to that PR nonsense that the PS3 is far superior causing massive arguments. The Wii have always been accepted as the lesser of the 3 by everyone so no arguments there.

The thing is that movies on the HD-DVD drive of the Xbox 360 probably looks amazing as well (I say probably because I don't own one but have heard of the quality). Your PS3 Blu-Ray movies will still look amazing on 1080p Component. Just like Oblivion was exclusive ;) Disk space isn't a crippling problem, there are always solutions. Remember that shareholders aren't fanboys, the company is already spending millions developing the game, they want to make as much money as possible from the game and holding a game exclusive to the console with the smallest install base isn't a way of maximising your returns.
