Hi 1upgamer99,
Choosing between a 3DS and Vita can be a tough decision, as both of the handhelds have great software. If your big on the Nintendo's first party titles, definitely go with the 3DS XL (the original 3DS screen is just too small). The 3DS eShop hold quite a few fantastic titles as well: Pushmo, Mighty Switch Force and VVVVV to name just a very few.
Vita on the other hand offers a few great home console-like gameplay experiences on a handheld...
Haha. It's all good.
The idea for this piece stemmed from the recent articles that claim that the Wii U is losing third party support, which if true, could find the console primarily being a first party system only. Thing is, I don't know how sustainable this would be for Nintendo. I'd think it wouldn't be good for them at all, but I also think things will turn around for the Wii U as well.
I think there would be a lot of ups and downs with ...
If you read the article, this isn't a 'pro-Nintendo going third party' article. Instead, it is a 'what if it went third party?.'
This is article is written in a positive manner towards Nintendo and its Wii U. :)
I see where you're coming from - yes, they economic situation does play a major factor. But, it's the amount of "console" gamers (not PC) that started playing online multiplayer games that he is referencing. If you're talking PC, 2004's WoW play a huge factor into the market, not Quake.
Actually, the guy makes his living analysing the industry far more than most anyone else. Gamers don't like what he has to say, because it doesn't always fit what "they" want. He speaks primarily to those who invest in the industy - not gamers.
The reason he states the year 2008, is because Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare came out in Nov. 2007, which lead to console gamers by the millions playing nothing but just that in 2008 - diminishing ...
And you proved just how immature you are - thanks for taking the time to let us all know.
This article does absolutely nothing to help matters for the better. Yes, it was a very bad deal for Wii U owners, but the business end of the gaming industry is as cut-throat as they come and these type of articles makes it look like all of the disgruntled Wii U owners are a bunch of childish fanboys.
Simply put, this isn't journalism and it shouldn't be the top article at N4G. If you want to write and article that discusses why Ubisoft's deal was a bad one and t...
Appeasement starts with the launch of Rayman Legends on the Wii U in less than 3 weeks time - just as it should.
Rayman Legends was less than 3 weeks from release on the Wii U - meaning that the game is packaged and was in the process of starting shipping. Ubisoft also just gave Wii U owners an exclusive demo to get them hyped up for the game's launch just a few weeks' ago. The reason they are mad is because the game should still release on time on the Wii U, instead of being pushed back for the next 7 months, when the game is already ready to ship.
I'm glad to see that the indie developers are doing well on the handheld, despite its slow growth. The majority of what I play on Vita are indie titles any ways, so the more the merrier.
Great interview!
Exactly! See, this piece is designed to make you think, explore things that aren't commonplace business decisions.
One other thing: imagine the absolute crazed insanity at launch if there's a Free-$200 buy in price (plus subscription contract). People will see the low price first and foremost, and the media will eat it all up, putting massive attention onto Sony's PS4, while reversing the idea that the console isn't affordable at launch.
It&...
I think it's possible we'll see a $200 USD (approx.) price tag, with a PS+ subscription/contract stapled along with it. Heck, I'll buy day one, without a moments hesitation if this is true - I'll stay subscribed to PS+ regardless.
It's actually pretty simple - I don't have time for co-op games.
I made it perfectly clear that I was solely speaking for myself and I was in no way "hating" on Dead Space 3. Thanks for taking my words out of context!
The problem is - Dead Space 3 doesn't look like something I'm terribly interested in. I absolutely loved the first two, as well as the iOS game and Extraction, but this just isn't looking like it's going to fit my personal appeal.
Very intelligent reply Snookies. Bubble up mate.
Actually, I haven't bought Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS and I rented NSMB2, as I knew it was something that would very likely not hold my interest for very long.
But thanks for trying to twist my non-biased comment into one that is. This (sadly) has become a typical thing as of late. I use the same screen name here as I do most everywhere else (and have done so for years) - Google my screen name and "Nintendo" and you'll see just how much of a Nintendo bias that...
It relies too heavily on both The Legend of Zelda, just as it does with Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros. as well.
It's not that I don't adore these games - I've been playing them for over 25 years - but Nintendo has absolutely burned me out on these franchises over the past 5-6 years. So much so that I haven't even purchased a Wii U yet and the recent Nintendo Direct didn't alleviate this feeling either: more Super Mario Bros.; more Mario Kart; more The L...
I think it's the fact that the Call of Duty sells worse on Nintendo consoles than any other console. Activision wouldn't even consider this kind of a contract, unless the Wii U's install base was double/triple that of the next generation consoles after a few years of them being on the market, but even then, the Wii U will most likely be inferior power wise - in short, it just won't happen. I think that's why you got the Disagrees.
@ElectricKaibutsu Thanks for your clarification on my behalf and you're absolutely correct in your assessments - Bubble Up. :)
On the other hand though, if the new "Mario" and "Zelda" titles excite consumers and the console starts to truly shift units, then Nintendo's acquisitions of these third party developers have a real potential of paying off for them. That's what I really hope to see happen in the very near future.

Ugh! I despise the F2P model!
